Weather

Frequently overlooked because of its poor air quality, unremarkable suburbs and freeways, The Inland Empire could be considered Southern California’s best kept secret. Here, alpine scenery, crystalline lakes ... Read more
and towering mountains abound...all mostly unhindered by crowds. The climate in The IE varies greatly depending on your elevation; but in general, summers are quite hot with some areas reaching temperatures over 100 (37), though the mountains stay cooler. The Santa Ana winds kick in around September and can continue through March, sometimes blowing hard enough to topple a truck. Winter cools down with snow falling in the mountains as early as November, while areas at lower elevations retain mild temperatures.

The Masters of Harmony, a men's barbershop chorus of the best kind had their holiday show at the Fox theater on December 7, 2014. Their music is outstanding, their guests are the same. A bonus after the show was walking around the entire block where the Mission Inn Hotel and Spa is located to see their fabulous Christmas lights and holiday decorations.

A town that's very proud of its history, Riverside is one of the largest cities in California. Nestled outside of Los Angeles and Orange County and near the mountains. Short drive from here to Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead. Nice place to live, but biggest downfall is the weather.

Riverside is close enough to LA to get to do the cool stuff without having to live there. It's mostly a college town, so you don't really think about going from LA to Riverside.

Local from Riverside

I like it in that it's close to Los Angeles, but not too close. I dislike it for the 91 freeway. It is kind of cool though in the sense that it proudly displays it's history, and it's not that hard to find it. It's trying to be outdoorsy and urban at the same time, and it's not quite there yet, but give it a few more years...
