It is a beautiful beach, it's the next beach after Copacabana as you can see on the picture.

One of the famous beaches in Rio and definitely worth the shot! It can be pretty crowded though.

Beautful beach! Fun to swim at, hang out in the sand, or play a game of volleyball. Plenty of vendors nearby to take care of all of your food, drink, and seating needs.

Gorgeous beach! Great place to look at the sunset. Plenty of people selling coconuts and other trinkets.

Head to Copacabana for exercise aficionados and sunbathers; head to Ipanema for surfers and sunbathers. If you like sunsets (who doesn't?), Ipanema has a popular favorite, Pedra do Arpoador, for just that. If you're into lifeguards, you can scope out Post 7 as you make your way to (or from) the rock. ;)

One of the best beaches to chill out in Rio de Janeiro. The beach is safe and is well lighted 24 hours. It could get crowded during peak times.

When in Rio, you have to walk along Ipanema Beach. It's located between two mountains, so it has gorgeous views in addition to gigantic waves, perfect for surfing.

Amazing scenic beach! Footvolley and beach volley along with paddleball, beach soccer and every imaginable beach sport played with enthusiasm. The beach culture is amazing with surfing and bodyboarding. Great biking and people watching. Only negative is water quality - would be best beach in world if that was better.

Just 2 blocks away from the property, Posto 8 is the perfect spot to enjoy one of the most celebrated beaches in the world.

Large, busy (especially during Carnival and if it is sunny out) but an enjoyable place to see the locals hang out and interact. Watch your belongings.

In the morning or after noom you can have a beautiful walk to Ipanema beach, the famous beach in Rio in just 15 min walking. Copacabana Beach turned to posto 6 then turning to Praia do diabo and them Arpoador and you are in Ipanema Beach. Where the music garota de Ipanema came from.

With dozens of picturesque beaches within reach, Cariocas (Rio locals) are spoiled for choice when it comes to fine sands. Ipanema, though, has long been one of the city's most enticing praias. There's endless amusement on the sands, from waterside jogs to volleyball games, or the more leisurely pursuit of sunbathing and people-watching. A few strategies for the beach: don't take anything of value to the beach (just enough cash for the day). Don't bother bringing a picnic or drinks. There are roaming food and drink vendors and barracas (beach stands) where you can hire chairs and umbrellas and eat something more substantial (like Urugai, near Post 9, which whips up delicious grilled-chicken sandwiches).

Ipanema beach is the hottest spot in Rio. It's where all the beautiful people hang out, exercise and drink. The "postos", or kiosks, are landmarks on where each type of people hang out so make sure you read about them before you pick on which part of the sand you want to sit on. The street in front of the beach is usually closed for cars on weekends and holidays so people have more space to ride bijes, skates and walk dogs.

Ipanema is a gorgeous beach in a hipster part of town--an easy place to while away a day with a lunch break to check out the nearby restaurants and bars.

Ipanema Beach is marked by the two mountains ("Two Brothers") stretched out on one side of the beach. The beach is also distinct for its laid back and upscale atmosphere.

Quite simply one of the most beautiful and scenic beaches in the world. It's broken into a number of sections that cater to various cliques. Right off the beach plenty of places for food and drink...and of course the Girls from Ipanema

A five minute walk - here you will encounter the surfing guys (at the beginning of Ipanema, called Arpoador) and the young and hip in-crowd, mostly rich Brazilian kids, living the good life.

Stroll down Copacabana beach (wonderful views of Copa - Bay) and in approximately 20 minutes walking you @ Ipanema beach. Or take a short 2 block walk to Cardeal Arcoverde subway and in three short stops you are there also.
