Description
The vibe at Copacabana beach has little to do with the cheesy strains of the Barry Manilow song. Instead, you'll find jutting mountains, drum circles, beachfront restaurants serving caipirinhas and ... Read more

Beautiful beach! Locals hold a night market on weeknights which is also really fun to go to. A must visit during your time in Rio!

Copacabana is a wide, long beach. It is quite nice. The sidewalk near the beach was full of vendors during the Olympics. Pretty spot!

Count on Copacabana for scantily clad exercise aficionados and sunbathers all along the beach; if there's a fashion theme here, it's "minimalist." Across the street, there are weekend fairs and delicious restaurants; but just because you've stepped off the beach, that doesn't mean that people have stopped wearing their beach outfits.

The tree-lined streets and beautiful beaches of Copacabana are legendary. Safety is an issue when you visit the beach. Go during the day and take little more than a swimsuit, flip flops, and the bare essentials. A must-see / experience. Just play it smart.

Copacabana is just perfect. During the day with the beach and the sun, and during the night, just walking and seeing sand sculptures.

Nothing beats going to the beach, but Copacabana is one beach you want to visit.

Hot bodies everywhere, people playing volleyball, silky smooth tans, sipping on some fresh coconut....if all these things appeal to you then you might want to stop by the beach line of Copacabana. Walk along the strand and notice on the walkway changes it's design.

Lay on the beach with your new beach shawl from the street vendors.

You'll definitely get that Brazilian tan line if that's what you're looking for.

Copacabana is the most beautiful city beach that I have seen. It's wide, long and has the whitest powder sand. The kioks along the pedestrian walk serve amazing cold drinks and "caipirinhas".

Walking along the boardwalk of Copacabana as far as Ipanema on Easter Sunday.
The beach was alive with families having fun and there were many organized games being played.
Half of the main road was closed to traffic and people were roller skating and cycling and it was a great place to people watch.
Beach cafés and restaurants were every 100 yards or so and security was visible everywhere.
It is such an alive place and the most friendly people I have ever been around.
The views are breathtaking from the ground or from a building or from the mountains around. Pure Paradise.

Just to people watch and drink yummy caipirinhas. Water sucks! Worried too much about my personal things on the beach. People don't leave you alone. Other beaches in the area are more relaxing.

A famous Brazilian beach, Copacabana is packed during the day with sunworshippers and 'fute volle' players (foot volleyball), who move to it's beachside restaurants as the sun sets.

Copacabana is a neighborhood in Rio filled with lots of hotels and resorts. The area itself kind of feels outdated and worn, almost as if it peaked in the 1950s an declined. Regardless, it's worth a visit and is still a popular area in Rio, especially for its beach.

A well known beach in Rio where you can just lay down on the sun, play any kind of sport or simply drink a beer or a fresh coconut juice listening to nice local music.

Our home beach - 50 yards from our front door - across Avenida Atlantica. Have SEVERO (our favorite beach shack) serve you cold beer and caipirinhas. You will feel comfortable among young families, retired folks and also a few tourists. At night - Copacabana beach is much livelier than Ipanema - with all the kiosks in full swing, serving - yes! - more caipirinhas!

The apartment is located 1/2 block from the World famous Copacabana Palace Hotel - where you can enjoy great dinning in the hotel or poolside. Also, 1/2 block from the apartment are many great sidewalk cafes and nearby restaurants.

I lived in this district for almost a decade. Always busy, great beach, bars and food. Plenty of things to do and see or just relax!

It was ok, but Ipanema is a much better beach. The water on this side was murky with too much debris. Also not as sophisticated in terms of people as Ipanema. Quite different...but still fun to people watch.

Great place. Difficult to see sad people. One of the most-visit places in Rio de Janeiro, don't forget going to the Militar Fort :)
