For the price and location it's great. As the review below mentions, three person shares are harder to find. I ended up sleeping on the weird pull out couch. It wasn't so much a couch as a conglomeration of cushions that folded out into a quasi-bed. There wasn't enough room to fully stretch out but it was still a comfortable place to sleep (as long as you're okay curled into a ball). If you're looking for a quiet experience, a hotel on Laugavegur isn't it. There were a few times we were serenaded by drunks walking home from the bar.

I stayed here with 2 friends at the front and back end of a two week trip to Iceland. We chose this hotel for its convenient location in Reykjavik, along with its pricing (split 3-ways between us). The rooms had a fun flair to them, decorated with old newspaper clippings, funky vases, and the bar downstairs is adorned with old suitcases. It's different and makes for a cool atmosphere. The rooms are fitted with kitchenettes, clean bathrooms, bedding, several chairs, and both times, our rooms had terraces.

A note regarding 3-person shares: This is kind of common in Europe, in that it's tougher to find rooms to accommodate 3 people where you'll get 2 double beds like you would in the states. We had expected a fold out sofa or cot when the rooms we booked said they slept three, but many times what we got was actually a futon cushion that was relatively short, occasionally leather and just folded downwards (this was the case with this hotel - one of each of the two situations noted above). It wasn't the end of the world, but it is something to be aware of if you're traveling with say, three very tall people or three people with very bad backs?

On our arrival, we had a small terrace facing the street and on our return visit, we had a large, roof terrace where a friendly neighborhood cat came to visit us. The street facing room was pretty noisy at night. The hotel is only about 3 floors, so you're close to the action and Reykjavik has a lively nightlife. On our second night, we were treated to about an hour of straight up drunk screaming, which was fun.

There was a bit of an odd check-in process, where you buzz in at the front door, then have to call the concierge from the front desk for instructions on opening a safe to get your info and key.

The downstairs bar/restaurant did not seem to be open on any night we were there until the very last night of our stay, which was odd, as it always seemed to be set up to be open. This wasn't really an inconvenience, just a note.

Other than that, everything was fine. The hotel is in close walking distance to the local Bonus supermarket and tons of bars and restaurants, shops, sites, etc. There's free wi-fi, as well. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable but not extravagant stay in the city.

Also, I don't have any great photos of the hotel, but I do have a ton of our cat friend, who kept stopping by to visit.
