Stayed on the second floor---it's a bit noisy at night (even though the bar closes at 11pm) but they offer free earplugs.

Absolutely beautiful Hostel. Very clean, friendly staff, and great décor. A friend and I stayed here for 3 nights in a private room. During our stay we met tons of other travellers and locals in the bar downstairs. Definitely get the breakfast it is well worth it.

First of all, let me just say that I spent 8 days in Iceland and it was without a doubt the best week of my life. It is such a beautiful/amazing country. I am SO freaking jealous of you- I'd love to go back!!
I hitch-hiked around, which is very common there, but most people rent a car and circle the island (it takes about 3 days without stopping, so plan for 7-10 days to leave enough time to stop and take photos, hang out in towns, etc., and trust me you will want to stop every 2 seconds with all of the incredible landscapes.
I highly recommend KEX Hostel in Reykjavik, the capital, because it has a super cool atmosphere, great bar/restaurant, a helpful and friendly staff, and it is clean!
The best part is that many local Icelandic people hang out at the bar, which is where I met tons of new friends (one is actually coming to stay with me in a few weeks). They host music events at night, attracting a hip and young scene (well, pretty much everyone in Reykjavik is hip and young). Seriously you have to stay at this hostel, it's convenient, fun, and informative.
If you only have a few days I'd say try to at least see the South Coast, as there are tons of great scenic spots like Jökulsarlón, an iceberg lagoon. You can take a boat trip through the icebergs and taste 1000 year old ice. Pretty sexy. The South Coast is gorgeous, make sure you bring memory cards/plenty of film- you'll need it!
HAVE FUN!!!
