One of the most iconic hotels in the world, this beautiful hotel is a must-see, even if you are not staying here. Stroll through the lobby or grab a bite or drink inside.

The Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac in the Old Québéc City is a huge imposing castle like luxury hotel that is the focal point of the old city. The hotel is fabulous, the staff are fabulous and the rooms are beautiful. Just don’t have the breakfast buffet. It is unfortunately the worst Fairmont breakfast I have every had.

I read that this is the most photographed hotel in the world, and with good reason! The architecture is gorgeous and the hotel's position overlooking the river is iconic. Well worth a visit even if you don't stay here!

The most photographed hotel in the world, Chateau Frontenac is the symbol of Quebec City. It is even prettier up close. You can't miss it.

This is a historic hotel in Old Quebec, and although I didn't quite go inside or very near it, it was lovely to look at from the boardwalk.

One of the world's most iconic hotel buildings with lovely views across the St Lawrence River. Le Chateau Frontenac has a great situation in the heart of Vieux-Québec.

Beautiful property worth the stay but it is expensive and the age of the property means soundproofing isn't modern. For example, I could hear a crying baby from across the hall when inside our rooms. Perched high with great views.

At least stop by and maybe have a drink.

We didn't stay at this hotel, but since it is probably the most distinguishing feature of Quebec City, we had to go here and take pictures of it.

I cannot comment on the rooms, but the outside appearance of this historic hotel is quite impressive. It dominates the skyline for Quebec's Old Town and fits it nicely with the theme of buildings.

beautiful hotel from the outside. A little weathered on the inside. Large hotel so expect the throngs of tourist milling about,
Good location though to explore the city

Breath taking hotel from the outside and historical within its walls. It is the first thing you see when driving into the Plaza Royale and it is such a magnificent site. Definitely take the steps up from the plaza to the upper part if the city. It was also the hotel where President Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and king met in secrecy to discuss strategies for WWII which is super cool!

My favorite part of Quebec City. An absolutely beautiful piece of architecture - so luxurious and grandeur! I did not take the opportunity to stay at the Chateau, however walked inside and out to the back where there is a Starbucks, allowing you to exit to face the St. Lawrence river. The lobby was exquisite and absolutely luxurious! Next time I find myself in Quebec City, I will absolutely splurge on a nights stay!

They have a beautiful, open outdoor bar area, Bar St. Laurent, where you can go and enjoy drinks and fabulous views of the river. Although you have to enter the hotel to get to the lounge, you don't have to be staying there to enjoy the atmosphere. Eric Clapton, or his look alike, was out on the deck when we went. Super, super cool place. Very romantic.

Even though it is an extremely expensive place to stay or even eat, it truly is not something to be missed. A tour of the building is a wonderful way to see how incredible it truly is. If you do get the chance though it is worth the splurging on one meal to eat there.

Aside from its breathtaking beauty from the outside, this historic hotel has been meticulously renovated. Each room I've stayed in over the years has been different and interesting with a view of either the St. Lawrence river or Old city. The biggest thrill after exploring all the ballroom halls and grand stairways is taking dinner in the Champlain Room. This dining experience shouldn't be rushed because the care and attention you'll receive here is one of a kind. Before television channels exploded with celebrity chefs, the Frontenac has had guests satisfied with the knowledge that they had gourmet meals with the finest of local and international ingredients. Take a moment to read about the famous guests and conferences while you imagine yourself walking in their footsteps. If you can take in a New Years grand ballroom celebration you'll not only get a gourmet dinner but some of the best orchestras have entertained as you dance into the night. Breakfast and lunch in the Terrace Restaurant buffet is always worth it's price with good people-watching on the Duffern Terrace. There is so much more to say about this lovely hotel, but I encourage you to discover its charms one day by yourself.

This hotel stay is all about the prestige and bragging rights. Sure, I can now say that I stayed at the famous Chateau Frontenac but lets get down to brass tacks; the food - meh; certainly nothing to write home about or remember, for that matter.. The amenities - nothing out of the ordinary. The service staff were wonderful but nothing justifies those prices. It's more like a 3 1/2 star hotel passing as a 5 star due to its history. I enjoyed it all the more for not having had to pay the bill. And sure, I'd go back, so long as it was on somebody else's dime.
