Pune Holidays

Located at the confluence of the Mula and Mutha rivers, Pune – both entrepreneurial and ancient – sits high in the Western Ghats, at 1,840 ft above sea level. As the cultural capital of the state of Maharashtra, the city embodies the Marathi culture, giving itself freely to education and the arts. It plays host to a wide array of entertainment ... venues, from an energetic nightlife to classical shows. With a surprisingly westernized and increasingly prosperous city center, spirituality is nonetheless ever-present, manifested in a number of well-known ashrams and yoga centers, as well as countless mosques and Hindu temples. And for the food enthusiast, if you enjoy coconut, garlic and chilies, Pune cuisine may just be your own path to Nirvana. Try the mastani, a thick milk shake containing dried fruit; take in a game of cricket; and leave your shoes at the door when paying a visit to Kasba Ganapati, the city's presiding god whose temple is found at Kasba Peth. Bird watching, exploring the old Peshwa part of the town, and the Pune International Marathon are also popular draws to this once royal city.

Born here but have been staying here ever since I came back for my engineering i.e. last 38 years. The quiet city with students and pensioners has changed into a bustling metro.

Fun city though a bit noisy and crowded - also known as the student city of India given the number of colleges here. Its only 3.5 hours from Mumbai via the expressway.
