glimpse into authentic Mexican village life while simultaneously providing a bevy of services and comforts to its guests. The Malecon is a new boardwalk stretching from central downtown to the old town district lined by restaurants and shops. For the more adventurous, the bay and mountains are great playgrounds, with water sports such as snorkeling, kite surfing and sailing as well as land excursions including hiking, zip lining, golfing and horseback riding. Restaurants are plentiful, from beachfront restaurants and taco stands to expensive rooftop gourmet hotspots, serving a variety of cuisines. Part of PV's popularity is its impressive tourist infrastructure; over 18,000 hotel rooms, a world-class airport and several cruise ship docks ensure tourists are well cared for.

the year’s highest humidity and temperatures, does have some perks: the predictability of the rain (it usually only comes in the afternoons so you can get your beachtime and sightseeing done in the morning), cheaper hotel prices, fewer crowds, and a chance to see nature come to life with the nourishing water. You can also try to plan a trip during the months before and after high season -- November and May -- to try and snag good deals without as much wet weather.

Puerto Vallarta is a very beautiful seaside town in México which is also very safe in tourist areas.

A great Mexican city that has so much to offer in terms of food, shopping and nightlife. This is also a very tolerant city for LGBTQ people, which I would recommend if you are looking for a comfortable place in Mexico.

If you're looking for a local and authentic expierence, Puerto Vallarta isn't the place for you as it's basically a less developed / exploited version of Cancun or Cabo San Lucas. It's mostly all inclusive resorts by the beach for retirees 60+ and families with young kids.

Touristy, but well managed. I'd return for a relaxing vacation. Took a trip to try some local tequila and had a blast. The boardwalk area is splendid.

I'm not a big beach vacation person but I love PV. CLEAN WATER. Locals are some of the kindest and most gracious people I've ever met. There's a lot to do other than sun bathe. I haven't had a bad meal yet. I love tropical feel. I would return in a second.

Set on the west coast and right on the Pacific ocean - this city is not perfect. It's touristy. There's a reason it's famous though. The airport makes this a convenient starting point. It's got lush tropical trees and ragged beaches. And it's an hour and a half drive to Sayulita and gorgeous little surf towns.

It is hard not to be enchanted with Puerto Vallarta. It isn't as new and the beaches aren't as pretty as they are in Playa del Carmen or Cabo San Lucas but it has a nostalgic charm that somehow feels a bit more authentic. Though you won't find turquoise water or white sand, you will find excellent food, friendly people, and lovely hillside vistas.
PV also embraces the LGBT community making it one of the friendlier places for gay and lesbian visitors. Unfortunately, it is also popular with some of the less tolerant parts of the U.S. so you may be subjected to an ignorant Texan.

Tasty food, fun in the sun and loads of beaches. If you enjoy beach lounging and pool hopping, Puerto Vallarta is the place to go. I found people in Puerto Vallarta to be beyond nice. My wallet fell out of my purse in a cab in Puerto Vallarta and the cabbie returned it to me which was awesome and completely unexpected.

Great vacation spot in Mexico. Unfortunately the prices are adjusted for US tourism. But still a good deal. Numerous resorts and restaurants. Beware the time share sharks at the airport. Make sure your rental car contract is correct and you take a picture of all sides of the car before you leave! The rental car places with US names are privately owned and they will try to scam you!
