Description
For almost 100 years—even during the dark days of Communist rule—the grand sculpture of Saint Wenceslas in Prague’s Wenceslas Square has been a source of national pride. But today, even the revered ... Read more
saint isn’t spared from the Czechs’ irreverent sense of humor. Sculptor David Cerny’s parody of the St. Wenceslas statue, hanging in the Lucerna Palace mere yards from the original, is of Wenceslas mounted atop the belly of a dead horse that’s been strung upside down.

David Cerny's sculpture "Horse" is inside the Lucerna Passage (which is a shopping arcade). The arcade is located below the Lucerna Palace (between Stepanska and Vodickova streets). "Horse" is hanging from the ceiling in an atrium in there.

Local from Prague

Bad boy artist David Černý's sculptural work can be spotted across the city. Inside the Lucerna passage way, Černý proves no national hero or city landmark is scared. There's a decent cafe which will give you a better view of the actually quite well-done piece. The sculpture is in one of Prague's popular 'pasáž's' located around Wenceslas Square. Wandering through them is a fun way to explore the 'insides' of the Square.

This sculpture of an upside down horse was created by Prague-born artist David Cerny. He has not really given his thoughts on what this actually means. Bet you never heard about this piece before - it is on lists as one of the most unusual monuments in the world.
