when the first crusade began. Much of this quarter was demolished around the turn of the century, and what remains was preserved by Nazi leaders as a future "exotic museum of an extinct race." Today, you can visit the remaining six synagogues, the cemetery and the Jewish town hall. Take an educational and interesting tour from one of the many trained guides.

Josefov, another name for the Jewish Quarter in Prague, is a great place to spend an afternoon wandering around. The main draw is the incredible architecture as well as the brilliant Jewish Museum. Located just off Old Town Square it is very central.

Local from Prague

This is one of the loveliest quarters in Prague. Not only rich with history, the neighborhood boasts tree-lined streets, lovely architecture and a spiritual atmosphere you don't find elsewhere in the city center. Home to cafes, restaurants and shops, you can fill an afternoon checking out each little corner. To truly explore the history, visit the Jewish Museum which runs the six synagogues located here.

It is the ebraic area of Prague, including synagogues, some of which nowadays are museums and the Jewish cemetery. To really appreciate this area some attentions should be given to the history of Josefov, through the visit of the 5 museum-synagogues.
