bohemia, and possibly the good-luck plaque at the 16th statue (in the sequence of 30 on the bridge). Maybe there is something to it; the bridge was laid under superstitious circumstances, at a precise date and time (believed to be lucky-- Year 1357, July 9 at 5:31 pm), and it has withstood the ages, invasions and wars. Find street performers, salesmen, and a pleasant view of the city and Prague Castle from this iconic eastern European landmark.

Overall, this is on most people's list when visiting Prague/Praha.

Pro tip: Avoid the summer crowds and go late Autumn/ early winter.
It will be dreary/raining but less crowded.
If you go during peak times, they recommend early mornings.

As part of most old town tours, this bridge connect Old Town with Mala Strana.

The bridge is mostly free to walk across. On the Old Town side, you can pay to climb up on one of its towers. I think it was several euros.

When I went it was drizzling and cold (around 50 degrees F), so
other than large groups of tourist, it was partially crowded.

Overall, it is free and part of most walking tours, so it is worth a visit.

The Charles Bridge is a must see while in Prague. If you have Rick Steves book, he gives an excellent description of all of the statues along the bridge that really adds value to your stroll.

Most famous bridge in Prague. Wonderful to stroll along and listen to the buskers. Looks beautiful at night. Great views from both gate towers.

The Charles Bridge is a famous historic bridge that crosses the Vltara River in Prague, Czech Republic. The Charles Bridge was the most important connection between Prague Castle and the city's Old Town and adjacent areas. This"solid-land" connecction made Pragueimportant as a trade route between Eastern and Western Europe.

One of the most famous sights in Prague and it is clear to see why. Everything from the approach, the cobbles, the gate tower and the statues are interesting and fascinating to look at. The bridge gets very busy so beware pushy tourists but there are some great artists selling their paintings and handicrafts along the bridge.

The best way to enjoy the historic bridge is from the nearby Most legií. A must see when in Prague.

This postcard will never bring this bridge to justice. The Charles Bridge crosses the historical Danube river and features gothic statues along the rims. The perfect place for a romantic picnic or stroll.

Charles Bridge provides you with easy access from Stare Mesto (Old Town) to Prague Castle. If you want to get shots of the pretty statues on the bridge, make your way over there either early in the morning or late at night. There are 30 statues on the bridge, but if you want to come back to Prague, legend has it that rubbing the bronze plaque that sits at the base of St. John of Nepomuk's statue means you'll return to Prague some day.
