Prague, regarded as one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, straddles the Vltava River in Central Europe and serves as the heart of the Czech Republic’s cultural, economic, and political activities. Nobility, including the Hapsburgs of the Holy Roman Empire, called “The City of a Hundred Spires” home for over 1,000 years, and now Prague functions as ... Read more
the Czech Republic’s capital. Luckily, Prague was spared from the incalculably destructive world wars, leaving its old town and castle district’s medieval architecture and charm untouched. World famous tourist sites include the Prague Castle, overlooking the Vltava and surrounding districts of the city, the Jewish district and St. Vitus’ Cathedral. Unique museum experiences include the Franz Kafka Museum and the Museum of Communism. As one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations from families to singles, Prague caters to its international guests with a huge variety of hotel accommodations, restaurants and nightlife experiences, ranging from the budget hostels to five-star hotels and restaurants.

When to go

Winter in Prague is cold enough (35F/2C) to scare off many visitors, and summer is a bit of a mixed bag -- you might get lucky and have a few days of sunshine, but it’s also possible that you’ll spend your ... Read more
entire vacation doing sightseeing in cold rain. Spring and fall are sunny and mild (42-67F/6-19C) and thus mark the city’s high season. Of the two, spring has the most color, both figurative and literal; the magnolias blossom in April and many of the city’s best festivals, celebrating everything from beer to music to Bohemian culture, bring life to the streets. A note of caution: travel is best avoided over big holidays like Christmas and Easter when tourists from other European countries pour in by the busload.

Prague is one of the most underrated cities in Europe. From the Prague Castle to the magical views of the Charles Bridge, this city is something out of a dream. Come during the winter season when the city holds Christmas markets! I would come back in a heartbeat!

Nice pandorama view from a hill near the Prag Castle over Prague. The view is from an old monastary terrace.

I'm a bit torn with Prague. I really like the idea of Prague and so many friends have enjoyed their stays and go back year after year, but my own personal experience with Prague wasn't that great. I've considered giving it a second chance but when I think back to what I liked about Prague when I was there, it was very specific to the Russian/Ukrainian speaking group of people I was with who were able to open doors (both literally and figuratively) due to a local connection.
I always recommend people go and try it for themselves, but as for me, it was a bit of a miss.

One of my all-time favourite cities, can and will keep going back. Their is so much fascinating history, incredible architecture, amazing food and insanely cheap beer. What more could you ask for?

It has history, beauty, nightlife, nice people etc.
You can walk along the river, threw the old town up the hill and everything is amazing!
There are many different pubs and restaurants everywhere! LOVE IT!!
