I highly recommend this experience for people with children. Most the exits are interactive and engaging that challenge the thought process.

OMSI is now catering to everyone, a great place for science, discovery and educational IMAX films, they also have OMSI after dark events for adults only!

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI, /ˈɒmziː/ OM-zee) is a science and technology museum in Portland, Oregon, United States. It contains three auditoriums, including a large-screen theatre, planetarium, and exhibition halls with a variety of hands-on permanent exhibits focused on natural sciences, industry, and technology. Transient exhibits span a wider range of disciplines.

OMSI as it is known to locals and most famous for its monthly After Dark event where the museum is open to adults only and serves drinks one evening each month.

OMSI has something amazing for every age! There are dates when admission is cheap, and memberships include a long list of museums.

Fun place, lots to see and do. Great rooms for kids and adults to explore. Plus one Sunday a month is $2 Sunday (mind you it only gets you into the basic permanent displays, while others have additional costs - IMAX, and planetarium, etc).

Definitely do the submarine tour for $6.50! The tour guides (volunteers) are so knowledgeable about the USS Blueback that's permanently 'parked' in the waters next to OMSI. Spend a hour wandering about the submarine and learning both serious technical facts and entertaining daily life facts about the submarine.

The museum itself is really an interactive museum, most of the things you see can be touched and played with.

OMSI is a family-friendly place to learn all about science and technology. The museum, submarine, and planetarium provide something for everyone to enjoy. Easy to spend a whole day here and not see everything.

Great for kids and adults! Located along the East Esplanade across the river from downtown PDX. The Museum is great, but it's location is equally fantastic! The new Tilikum Crossing (bridge) will open within a month, and this will connect OMSI to the South Waterfront district. The bridge is a dedicated walking, biking, and transit bridge with no cars.

Fabulous technology exhibits that explain our world in understandable terms. An entire section is dedicated to kids, interactive and hands-on: touch it and play with it to learn it.

OMSI is one of the best venues for indoor family fun in Portland. The children's section can be chaotic on weekends and there have been some thefts during peek hours. The rotating exhibits are hit or miss. The current dinosaur exhibit is incredible. The previous two were lackluster. When the cafe is open, it serves up incredible local fare (beer and wine included) with a great view..

For a break from cycling along the Esplanade (bordering the Willamette River), park your bike at OMSI, get some refreshment at the cafe, watch an IMAX film or expand your mental horizons in a hands-on or walk-thru experience, focused on topics from biology to physics to zoology. Suitable, generally, for children aged 5 years and up.

OMSI is an amazing place with tons of fun interactive exhibitions on science and engineering. Don't miss the earthquake simulator machine. Every month they have a special night for the 21-and-over set where they serve alcohol. They also have laser light shows, an IMAX theater, and a real submarine.

OMSI is great fun. Although it's tailored to children, adults will have a good time too. A walk through the submarine moored at the dock is a must, and catching a show in the OMNImax (think IMAX, but with a curved screen) is spectacular.

OMSI is a pretty great museum. It's got a little bit of everything. Even though it may be geared to kids, adults can have an enjoyable time here also.

Only went for the Body Worlds exhibition, but the place is really nice and interesting. Great place for both kids and adults to get some education in this rainy city..

I've been here once for a school field trip (when they were exhibiting the human body) and it was a very enjoyable experience. The exhibits and artifacts are very educational and kid-friendly. The museum is very large and family-oriented but appeals to kids and adults alike. Definitely come with family or younger people for a fun learning environment!

Simply one of the best children's museums anywhere. School age kids love it, and there's stuff to keep mom and dad entertained too. Worth the trip.
