limestone cliffs protruding from the clear emerald green water. Enjoy a few quick stops at some amazing, quiet beaches. You can appreciate the beauty of James Bond Island and Koh Panyee without getting lost in the tourist crowds that often inhabit both spots. Lunch on a feast of fresh seafood while visiting the charming village of Koh Panyee.

I really liked Phang Nga Bay National Park, the distinctive features being the sheer limestone karsts that jut vertically out of the emerald-green water. We kayaked through the 'hongs' (small collapsed cave systems which lead into tiny eco-systems) which was incredible because we were lead into small compact caves open to the sky and full to the brim with fauna. It was great to catch a glimpse of the untouched world. We had a few scary encounters kayaking with our backs flat on the floor of the kayak to get through impossible gaps that leads though to more 'songs' The sea level is constantly changing so new hongs are accessible every day while old routes are swelled by the rising tide. I loved exploring this unique system of caves on water.

Explore this fascinating large bay filled with exotic islands. Island sea Cliffs, James Bond Island, Hidden coves and beaches inside of islands, Phi Phi Island, Yao Noi and Yao Yai Islands, Koh Kai with its pure white sand and clear waters. Magical experience of islands all within 5 to 30 minutes of Coconut Island.

stunning limestone rock formations that protrude vertically out of the brilliant jade waters. It is a great place to get away from crowded touristy areas, though you will find some at the famous James Bond Island (of ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’ fame) and Koh Panyee. Boat trips from Phuket are the bests ways to enjoy these places.

Phang Nga Bay is a stunning bay that rests between the island of Phuket and the Malay Peninsula of Thailand. It's easily accessible from popular locations such as Phuket, Krabi and Phi Phi. The limestone cliffs create a landscape that is truly unique to that area of the world. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. My advice would be to wait until you are in Krabi or Phi Phi and charter a long tail boat. It will be cheaper if you book in Thailand. While popular tours allow you to cover a lot of ground, they can also be rushed. Many tours take you to James Bond Island, which is extremely touristy and, in my opinion, cheapens the beauty of the rest of the bay. Plus, on a larger tour, you will be floating around with many other people, which can also take away from the Bay's natural beauty.

This is a beautiful place. Uncharacteristically, I took a boat tour from Phang Nga that included a fishing village, some mangrove swamps, and James Bond Island (rock). To my happy surprise it was really cool. You could see a variety of otherwise mundane activities from the boat like people doing chores and fishing in the streams, the Muslim fishing village was both architecturally fascinating as it was built on piers in the water and delicious. James Bond island/rock was ok too. Really my favorite part was the boat sliding through the mangrove swamp, as I dont know how I could have done that on my own.

Phang Nga town is ok. Lots of great Thai food, of course, but more of a travel hub than a destination in itself. Inexpensive though.

As you were landing into Phuket airport, when you look out of your airplane's window, you will see the exotic rocky islands of Phang Nga Bay. There are many islands around and their rock formations will take your breathe away.

Phang Nga Bay is a beatiful place to explore and the best way to do so is either by joining local tour (it can becomes too touristy) or charter your own boat (which can be expensive). Unfortunately, the area is very popular that a kayaking trip can get too crowded (and jammed!)

Completely beautiful limestone cliffs set among the blue waters of Thailand. The only thing that makes this not as perfect as you are imagining is that it is very much on the tourist circuit and you will have a great time seeing the beauty among 300+ other people kayaking the same route as you...
