that life you can see up close and on display at this Phoenix botanical garden and museum. You’ll be introduced to more than just the odd cactus; over 21,000 plants are on display here, including some truly bizarre specimen like the boojum tree. Medicinal herbs, edible fruits, wildflowers, and some of the world’s oldest flora are all here, ready to be discovered.

I always used to go here as a kid with my family. It is a very interesting place to walk around and see glass sculptures incorporated in the desert scenery.

Free admission the second Tuesday of each month. Close to downtown. A large place with excellent examples of the flora and fauna of the desert. The gardens are well laid out. A pleasant way to spend 2 or more hours.

Beautiful garden with so much to see! Go early morning to beat the heart, or late at night to see the stars! Will definitely have this on my list next time I'm in Phoenix.

So much to take in! It is amazing how much plant and animal life is sustained in the desert. What a treat to have so many examples displayed in one area. Beautifully maintained!

Desert Botanical Garden in Papago Park in Central Phoenix is not only a botanical garden. Desert Botanical Garden covers about 50 acres, and in addition to the vast array of native plants on display, the garden is home to over 21,000 plants representing 3,931 plant classifications in 139 plant families. Nationally and internationally renowned for its plant collections, research, and educational programs, Desert Botanical Garden has been operating since 1939.

This unusual outdoor installation of Chihuly glass art graces the Garden, capturing the spirit of art complementing the desert environment.

It's been years since I've been here.
Came for the Bruce Munro installation, Sonoran Light and for dinner at Gertrude's.
Surprisingly enjoyable dinner and walk through the gardens and lights to walk off the food and drinks.
If you go, go soon because it is starting to warm up even if it's only March.

When most people think "desert," they usually think of a barren wasteland. But as the Desert Botanical Gardens prove, Arizona is vibrant with bushes, trees, flowers, and every kind of cactus. More than just a pleasant place to walk around, the gardens host art exhibits, weddings, and classes. Set against the backdrop of Papago Park, the Botanical Gardens offer some of the most beautiful landscape in the region.

If you'd rather not take a grueling hike in Phoenix, you could try visiting the Desert Botanical Garden. You'll get views of Papago Mountain and get to learn more about natural desert flora and fauna. Check out cactus and a bunch of other flowers too. This is perfect if you'd prefer a peaceful, quiet way to enjoy the outdoors without getting really sweaty and difficult.

Whenever I feel disconnected from the desert, I head to the Desert Botanical Gardens. I know that (like all gardens), it's a man-made garden, but it really brings the beauty of the desert to life. There are many trails to choose from, and you really can't go wrong. I usually take the longer Sonoran Desert trail. It winds through meandering brick paths, as well as more rugged dirt trails. The flora is gorgeous and something always seems to be in bloom, no matter what time of year you go. The desert sometimes offers sunset yoga, which is awesome. It's easy to get out of a funk and feel better when you come here.

For a complete understanding of our desert habitat, the garden is a must. Plant and animal life abound here, especially the birds. It's a wonderful place to visit, enjoy snacks or a full meal and just "take in the nature" of our beautiful Sonoran desert. In Papago Park confines and 10 minutes to the west by car.

I went here today and it was so much fun. I love seeing and smelling all of the beautiful herbs, flowers, and cacti. There was a lot of information about each species of plants and I walked around for at least a good 2 hours. So the exercise was great too. Beautiful scenery towards the mountains. It was awesome.
