this is a kid oriented place, I went as a solo adult and although it is science oriented it is way to simple. Good to great for kids however.

In downtown Phoenix, about an easy 20 minute drive. Great for kids up to 10 or so; our grandkids love this place; passive and interactive exhibits.

This place is awesome! It's a major institution of learning for families, teachers, students and vacation guests. You can explore more than 300 hands-on exhibits in 7 themed galleries. The Arizona Science Center houses four levels of exhibits, a state-of-the-art planetarium, and a five-story-high IMAX theater. Four floors of fun for kids of all ages! While many of the permanent exhibits lean toward actual young people—and will be crawling with them during normal hours—the special exhibits, films, and lectures have plenty to offer for adults. They also offer the adults-only and cash-bar-equipped "Adults Night Out" on First Fridays! If you've ever wanted to learn about boogers while enjoying a good beer, mark your calendar.

Bonus for parental units: You don't exit through the gift shop (it's not even in the main museum), but it's chock full of neat sciencey goods if you dare to venture in.

This would be a great spot to take the kiddos if at the conference center for a convention. It is right around the corner and has lots of fun things to do. It is also one of the few green spots in the downtown area.

This has something for everyone. I loved the weather simulator, and the outdoor water exhibits. I couldn't get anyone to ride the bike, but we all went to the movie and really enjoyed it. It's a whole family attraction, and shouldn't be missed. It also comes in handy in the summer when it's too hot to be outside.

They have four floors of exhibits to explore, to get your hands on stuff, and to learn at your own pace.

If you have young kids, the Arizona Science Center is a must visit when in Phoenix. We visited over the weekend, dropped in twice, and never lacked for new things to do. There is wonderful, FUN, learning for kids of all ages about the human anatomy, the universe, motion and energy. A newly opened math exhibit also provides interactive games and activities that teaches your child about numbers and their relationship to everyday things (without their knowing it!). Definitely one of the best science centers we have been to.
