High end resort catering to families visiting Phoenix we really liked but for one caveat I will mention at the end. We had a Suite which had good ( but not huge space for our group of 5). The great thing is they have a water park called river ranch which guests are free to use has a not very fast water slide, a lazy river you can float in inner tubes, toddler pool, sports pool( they supply gear) and a pleasant 3.5 foot long pool graded for little kids at one end and a waterfall at the other. Nicely geared towards little ones overall. There are also tennis and basketball courts and an 28 hole mini golf course. Convenient but pricey dining options and pool side service are available, the rooms have mini-fridges and there are a variety of eateries in walking distance or you can drive 10 min to the Biltmore fashion mall.
Only caveat they tend to overbook and gave away our room despite our calling that morning to remind them we would be very late-- they comped us a room at another property and got us in the next day but it was really frustrating after a long day of travel with 3 kids. I only mention as they did the exact same thing a few years ago when we stayed at their Tapatilo Cliffs property (that time we arrived at 8 pm and they had already given our room away)-- so call often or get a room guarantee.

The Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort is where my extended family and I stay when we're looking for a staycation spot for the whole family. There's enough here to keep adults and kids happy. I love the cabanas and lazy river. My nephew goes nuts over the waterslide. I also saw they have a small miniature golf course, which I haven't tried out yet. We ate at the Hole in the Wall restaurant, which is Old West-style chuckwagon grub. They have a historic wooden stove outside where the meat is cooked for hours (not surprisingly, it smells great anywhere around the restaurant). The rates are pretty affordable in the summer (which is when I've stayed there).

I stayed here as a kid in the 90s and had a larger-than-life perception of this place. And despite the filter of time, my initial impression stands true even today. This place is huge: 30 acres, 10 pools, and a sprawling complex of hotel rooms. And it's the pools that I remember: the water slides, the lazy river I like that the hotel has a wide arrangement of pools to choose from, which means that you don't have to walk far in the heat to cool off.

One thing from the 90s that doesn't necessarily hold up: the décor. It doesn't look like the rooms have been updated in a while, and could use with a remodeling. And the hotel does a good job of blending in with the desert landscape. The casita design of the buildings feels natural, and they play up the desert vibe with paintings of cacti, etc.

If you're looking for a good place to take the family while staying in Phoenix or even as a “staycation,” the Pointe Hilton is your destination.

I’d like to begin by stating this resort has lots of kids! So, if you have kids and are looking for a family fun experience, yeah, this resort is really good. However, if you and your girlfriends want to do a ‘staycation’, you may want to look at another resort in town. Don’t get me wrong, this is a nice place. I recently stayed overnight and, because I do not have children, was overwhelmed by kids and parents alike as I floated down the lazy river. The large pools were warm in the Arizona heat and, again…children everywhere. Oh, and the slide was closed for maintenance. The bedroom suite was nice enough. Some of the staff didn’t seem to want to be there at all. Expect to walk your luggage to your room and park your own car.

As Alesha mentioned, I have heard about their service. The staff was always polite and helpful with a smile. This is another top notch suite style family resort in the Phoenix area. Plenty of entertainment for the adults in kids. Since I don't have any kids to worry about, I had a blast getting served alcoholic beverages by the pool all day before playing mini-golf. Duh. I recommend grabbing a bit at the Hole in the Wall restaurant, food was awesome. When I got tired of chilling on a lawn chair I snagged a tube and floated around the lazy river. They have tons of water fun. If you are coming over the summer months drop in for a swim and a fun stay!

Service was great, and the accommodations were nice and comfortable. This sprawling resort has something for everyone. My family chose to hold our every-so-often family reunion here and each of us loved our stay. This is a resort meant to host big events or family parties.

We were able to room close to one another in adjoining suites, but not too close if you know what I mean. This was so much more comfortable than the typical hotel because we felt like we were staying at a home away from home equipped with kitchen amenities and many places to relax just within our own suite.

The resort itself is a legitimate getaway. It’s somehow in the middle of the city but feels completely secluded. We all loved the multiple pools and the kids spent all day on the water slide and floating the lazy river. At night the kids sat for a movie at the pool or played mini-golf, while us older kids were catered-to by the friendly staff serving up cocktails.
