Penh. His ashes are interred in a stupa west of the site. This site is heavy with history and has experienced many periods of rebuilding. Due to the periods of rebirth of the site, you see many eras of intricate artwork on the walls, including depictions of earlier incarnations of the Buddha. Prepare yourself for the lively atmosphere near the entrance where the vendors are encamped.

If you like visiting temples, don't miss this one in Phnom Penh. It's on a hill and can get busy, but it's a good spot to experience a bit of local Cambodian life. Be wary of anyone trying to sell you anything, though.

Wat Phnom is a Buddist temple first built in the 14th century - built upon a small and only hill in the city. I loved the gardens around it, and the large flowery clock - and the atmosphere of the local children trying to whack mangoes off the surrounding trees.
There is an interesting but weird trade of men selling birds in cages to temple visitors to "free" as they make a wish but overall, this is a great temple that makes up a round-about on a main street!

This temple is up on a hill, which is fitting as it's name means Hill Temple. This is one of the most popular temples for locals and they often visit to pray for luck. There's a statue of Penh in a shrine here that shouldn't be missed.

The only one hill in Phnom Penh, magnificent temple on the top of Wat Phnom, is the leisure place for local people. There is Yeyh Penh Statue near the temple.

Interesting enough but if your stay in Phnom Penh is short, I would prioritize the genocide memorial sights. You'll find better temples elsewhere.

The site is supposedly the finding point of Phnom Penh. The site’s importance lays on the large stupa where the remains of King Ponhea Yat rests (1405-1467); the King who moved the Khmer capital from Agkor to Phnom Penh. Good to visit when time is plenty.
