The first word that comes to mind when I think of the Radisson Blu Warwick is, stunning. From the moment you step into the lobby your are transported to a luxe world of visual phenomena. It is a feast for the eyes with towering ceilings, white walls, intricate interior decorations and a pop of blue lighting. As you would expect with a Radisson property, all rooms are pristine yet comfortable and the location in downtown is prime.

Local from Philadelphia

This beautiful and historic 1923 hotel is smack in the Rittenhouse Square Neighborhood. The old Warwick was a major venue for Philadelphia’s high society debutante, or coming-out, fetes until the 1960s. It's nice to see the interior renovated to combine the stately with the jazzy/contemporary. The lobby is large, with blond wood floors, modern furniture and coruscating Japanese lantern-like globes hanging about, without being obtrusive. Friendly staff. Incredibly comfortable and smartly designed and rooms nicely--nothing kitschy here-- appointed with Philadelphia-oriented prints. The Radisson Blu Warwick is connected to both a coffee shop/beer bar and a high end-- and still quite formal-- chop house, The Prime Rib (I recommend it, but only if you are in the mood for the absolutely superb signature dish-- there are five other white tablecloth steakhouses within walking distance that do a significantly better job with your other essential cuts of beef, rack of lamb or fish.)

The Warwick was once one of Philly's grand hotels, but it is definitely starting to show its age a bit. The lobby has recently been restored and is truly beautiful, with polished marble floors and chandeliers. Stepping out of the elevator to go to your room is a bit of a shock, though, as the hallways seem very dated, with old dingy carpet and poor lighting.

Fortunately, the rooms are nice - they were nicely renovated a few years ago. The beds are big and comfy, the desk is big and broad, and it has a flat screen TV. The entire hotel is equipped with free wi-fi, and does not require an annoying passcode, which I loved. The bathrooms were done with granite countertops and some decent shampoos.

My biggest complaint about the hotel is that there were *no blackout curtains* - only the translucent white ones that let the sunlight in - so sleeping in was an impossibility. I have never seen this in a hotel before, and still cannot fathom what they were thinking.

The location of the hotel is great - very central - just one block off Rittenhouse Square and one block from the main shopping street on Walnut. A solid option, if not one you will miss when you go.

Although there is a lot of history here, I got the overall sense that it was just that, history. This hotel has seen grander days. The location is absolutely amazing, in the heart of downtown. But with newer or at least more newly renovated fine hotels all around this area, the location alone doesn't make up for an "OK" overall experience. A man cannot live on Sleep Number beds alone! I've now had several bad impressions at Radisson properties and am beginning to wonder if it's the company, because in this case the problem is definitely not the property itself.

I stayed here for about a week during a professional conference. Our room was very nice with the LCD screen and Sleep Number Bed. The bathroom was a bit small and the temperature control was inconsistent. The staff really nice, friendly, and accomodating. The restaurant/bar was a very nice suprise with great drinks and delicious and reasonably priced food.
