As one would suspect, this place is known for serving delicious Magots....just kidding. It's actually a decent Parisian street cafe (like the other 78,000 you will run into on every corner of Paris). The food here is solid, service is as you would expect in Europe (nonexistent). That said, it is situated on a great corner filled with people watching. TLDR - come for delicious Magots and people watching.

One of the famous Parisian cafes in the heart of Saint Germain. The food is good, but I would recommend this place more for the atmosphere and experience!

This cafe and the nearby Cafe Flore have a great history as the favourite spot for writers, artists and philosophers. The menu is classic and the people watching is great. A bit expensive but a real taste of Paris.

I am a huge fan of Hemingway, so to sit in his seat and eat a Croque Monsieur was a real delight.

A place to see and to go, at least once. Expensive but ok for a coffee at least to feel the french coffee shops

I went to this cafe because Ernest Hemingway has been here, and it was mentioned by Vanity Fair that JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan brainstormed Star Wars VII here. It seemed like such an uppity place to dine. I went less than an hour before closing and only had a cup of coffee. The atmosphere lends itself to inspiration of sorts.

Yes, it is touristy but Les Deux Magots is a classic and the food, atmosphere and even the service are excellent. A pleasant location. The ambience on the outdoor terrace in the summer feels very much like the South. Save room for copious amounts of rose and desert. In my opinion, infinitely better than Café de Flore though nearby Brasserie Lipp probably wins on food (but isn't nearly as much fun).

If you're into literature, you can't miss having at least a glass of wine at this historic restaurant. Right on the chic Saint Germain-des-Pres boulevard near luxury jewelry stores and Louis Vuitton, this was the spot where intellectuals like Sartre and writers like Hemingway came to crash for a cup of coffee or a shot of absinthe. Other than the reputation, there's nothing obviously special about Les Deux Magots. The waiters have the same lack of interest as the enemy restaurant next door, Le Cafe de Flore, but the food is great and costs what it should. It's just one of those places you have to go and Paris so that you can say you went and cross off your list. I recommend paying this place a visit even if just for a cup of cafe creme.

One of the best places to go in Paris if you're looking to have your own "Midnight in Paris" experience, as it's famously the former hangout of the literary and intellectual elite, including Ernest Hemingway, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Pablo Picasso. Though a bit pricey, it's a wonderful spot to grab a cup of coffee in the popular Saint Germain neighborhood. The chocolat viennois rivals that of Angelina without the wait!

A famous hangout of the surrealist artists and Ernest Hemingway, Les Deux Magots is a coffeehouse just around the corner on Saint-Germain-des-Pres.

Not only does it have an incredible history as the old hangout of figures like Picasso and Hemingway, but the entire experience is memorable. The food was among the best I've had Paris, especially the desserts! Guaranteed to be a meal you won't soon forget.

This restaurant is fantastic! Great for a special occasion or just a night out. The food is traditional parisian cuisine done perfectly. Be sure to save room for dessert.

I suppose it's a must for tourists & literary buffs. Coffee & food are good, not great. Service is typical. If you're wandering the Left Bank, it's worth a stop, but I wouldn't go out of my way. There are many bistros and cafes that are much more fun.

Les Deux Magots is a famous café in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés area of Paris. It once had a reputation as the rendezvous of the literary and intellectual élite. It's a wonderful corner to people watch. There is a legend that says if you sit there long enough, you will see someone you know. Perhaps it originated from those who sat and imbibed a bit too much. Nevertheless, it's a "must do" whenever one visits Paris.

In the battle between Les Deux Magots and Cafe Flore, I'm probably more of a Cafe Flore fan, but both of these Saint-Germain establishments are great places to enjoy a light bite, coffee, or a late night drink.

14/20; Food 8/10, Ambience 3/5, Service 3/5. Famous brasserie/bistrot. A (rare-ish) intersection of fashionable Parisian locals and tourists. Definitely a bit chi-chi, and certainly exhibiting some of the ubiquitous indifference to service, BUT the food is really really good traditional Parisian bistrot fare (in my experience better than the even more famous Brasserie Lipp), with a wide range of everything from well-prepared salad through to a full-on steak tartare. And it, especially on a warm day, it is a buzzing, pleasant spot to while away a few hours and absorbing Paris life.

you must stop here for some café or une orange presée...and perhaps l'ambiance will inspire you to become an artist like those who hung out at this place for enlightenment. Deux Magot was a popular hangout for les avant-gardes such as Guillaume Apollinaire, Albert Camus, Picasso and other artists.

Touristy, once popular with the existentialists, close to Sciences Po, good hot chocolate.
