The famous Parisian ice cream! A must try on a trip to Paris. The portions are small but the flavor delicious! Try the salted caramel and the dark chocolate, they are really great together!

Their ice cream is one of my favorites and is topped off in the most decadent fashion. I would recommend sharing their creations and trying as many flavors as you can. You can also get these flavors in surrounding shops but without the fancy dessert of course.

This is one of the most famous ice cream shops in Paris; apparently, it's so popular and business is so good that the parlor shuts down in summer.

Well, we came Christmas week and it was equally as popular and unfortunately they were out of almost every flavor. There were a only handful of flavors, mostly strange ones ike licorice. Thankfully, they at least had strawberry, so we tried a scoop of that, which was very tasty.

They had amazing flavors on their 30+ favor menu like Caramel and Whiskey and Passion Fruit, but they're far too popular and sadly were out of pretty much everything. We ended sharing one scoop (2.50) at Berthillon and going across the street to a take out window of a cafe that sold Berthillon ice cream (3/scoop), which had many more flavors. It was excellent!

I'd say definitely try their ice cream, but don't be dead set on actually ordering it from their shop. Many shops all over town sell it and it is just as good. The shop didn't really add anything, except slightly cheaper prices. Plus, they don't let you sample flavors here. The cafe across the street offered us a taste. :)

Parisians and tourists flock to this artful celebration of ice-cream rain or shine (except for August, when believe it or not – it's closed!) Set on the quaint streets of Ile St Louis, Berthillon is a family-run ice-cream parlour offering around 70 unusual renditions of the beloved whip. Changing seasons dictate changing flavours – scoops of roasted pineapple and basil or ginger and caramel ice-cream are offered during different seasons. Mainstays like wild strawberry sorbet, pink grapefruit ice-cream or - if you like to mix things up – the framboise melba (vanilla ice-cream, raspberry sorbet, cream, pistachio nuts, raspberries and raspberry sauce) are available year-round. Magnifique!

Every time I've gone to Paris, I just have to make a pit stop at Berthillon. Berthillon's ice cream is exquisite and some of the best that I've ever had anywhere in the world. My favorite flavor is the pamplemousse (not only because it is fun to say grapefruit in French, it's also divine to eat).

Though many other restaurants on the Ile Saint Louis carry this brand of ice cream, for the real experience, make your way to the original store on the heart of the island. Not only are the flavors extensive and creative, the ice cream itself is worth writing home about (and the often long line). Grab a cone and then stroll to the bridge between this and the other island, Ile de la Cite, where street performers often entertain the crowds.

The closest you'll get to island-hopping in Paris is taking a wander down to the Île Saint-Louis to get yourself a few delicious scoops of Berthillon ice cream. It's artisanal, it's family-owned, and there are over 30 flavours to choose from. I usually go for a classic salted-caramel-and-speculoos combo, but the sorbets are madly popular too. Best of all, its not much more expensive then any other ice cream shop to be found in the area, and its an added incentive to check the beautiful boutiques, restaurants and art galleries on the island.

I absolutely love this place, it's a must go. My favorite flavor ever is pistachio, you have to try it at least once ! (but I promise you will come back for more :D)

I admit that these ice creams and sorbets are really good, but I now prefer Italian gelatos! If you're patient enough to wait in line (there is always a line-up once the sun comes out) then you should get a scoop or two as they are THE thing to try on Ile Saint. Louis. Just remember that in August, contrary to what you might think, they are closed. I've always found that as strange as a Christmas themed store being closed in December, but the French really do value their summer holidays!

This review is only for the ice cream: It is the best damn ice cream I've ever had (I got pistachio flavor). Creamy, flavorful, succulent. Fantastic texture and taste. There are a few Berthillons that sell ice cream around this area. They're all the same, but one of them sells it for .30 less because they use a cheaper cone. Keep this option in mind if it matters to you. I honestly wish I got more scoops and flavors now.

This is hands-down the best ice cream that I've ever had in my life. If you pass by Berthillon anytime during the day during the summers, you will always see a line that goes outside the door. I saw the lines when I spent a summer there, I was curious as to why it got so much business. Then I had their ice cream and understood why. Whether it's peach or chocolate, everything they touch is ice cream gold.

I really don't know what to say aside from: Berthillon has by far the best ice cream I've ever tasted. Not only are there several drool-enducing flavors to choose from (salted-butter caramel, rose-raspberry...), but the texture is creamy and thick like you've never experienced before.
On top of all this, Berthillon is located smack in the middle of the equally delicious Ile Saint-Louis, where your fantasies of seine-side summer strolls can be truly complete with an excellent ice cream in hand.
One drawback: the lines can be very, VERY, long. I would highly recommend going to one of the other shops on the island that sell the same ice cream (it will be advertised in the window) to avoid the wait.

The ice cream here is the most delicious ice cream you can have in Paris. It is super famous and they are all made fresh.

Berthillon's boutique is more of a tourist attraction now, but it is respected by the French. Berthillon is sold in many brasseries as well as some supermarkets like Monoprix.
Berthillion offers many many favors from blood orange to spice bread to vanilla. The ice cream is almost as light as a sorbet but richer in flavor (less watery). It's something that you don't want to miss to taste but if you don't want to stand in a ten minute or longer line, just go to a brasserie (better than a tabac) and they'll have some flavors. It doesn't have to be a brasserie near the Ile de France - the ice cream is really all over the city.

Delicious! An assortment of regular flavors mixed with unique concoctions. The only downside is having to wait in a line stretching down the street. If you're in Paris, I would definitely give it a try at least once.

Decadent ice cream bursting with flavor. Small scoops, but they pack a punch. Raspberry sauce and the chantilly cream were also a win.

We stayed on Ile St Louis where the Berthillon ice cream shop is located. Surprisingly, in August, the shop is closed. Luckily our stay extended into September so we were able to visit the shop on more than one occasion and were spoiled for choice -- all of which was excellent. It can have a very long queue in the afternoons.

When you are on Ile Saint Louis should you go here or to Amorino, well how about both. The flavors at Berthillon are fresh and amazing from first taste till the last lick. Small scoops allow you to try three different flavors on one cone. Lines can be long, portions are small and this is expensive but it is worth the wait and price. Try and compare that is my motto, heck with lunch.

When I think "gelato" I didn't think "Paris," not until we stopped in for a scoop of dark chocolate. I had my cone in hand, but just had to stop walking so I could truly appreciate the creamy, rich, resonant flavors. There may be a line, but it's totally worth the wait.
