Not really the best neighborhood ever. But great restaurant (Starck but not too fancy) and nice modern hotel at good rates. http://www.mamashelter.com/

Really cool hotel and amazing restaurant in a former multi-storey car park designed by Philippe Starck. It’s great on so many levels *coughs* from cocktails to brunch. It’s in a quieter part of town outside of the tourist centre too, so you can experience a bit more of authentic Parisian hipster vibe. Good deals on double family rooms at weekends, too.

I loved this trendy hotel right on the edge of Paris. It's definitely out of the way on the 20th, but even though it's far and in a sketchy area it's the new cool neighborhood in town worth checking out. Definitely catered to a younger artistic crowd, the hotel has a delicious pizzeria and restaurant along with a bar and a rooftop terrace. The pizza was delicious and the waitress amicable. You might want to make a reservation in order to go to the restaurant and rooftop terrace as it was booked the night I went! I love the design of the hotel, a rustic industrial Phillip Stark style with stools and minimal lighting. The hotel is safe as there's a guard at the front so you can sleep well at night. It's a bit of a walk from the Gambetta metro station, but there is a bus stop at the corner!

I just love this trendy hostel/restaurant/bar in Paris's up-and-coming Ménilmontant area. This is a great place to stay, with a unique fun and creative modern design. The rooms are small and a bit dark but comfortable. A great breakfast is available in the mornings too, and a rooftop terrace to enjoy after a day out seeing the sights. This place tends to attract a young crowd so is best suited to younger travellers or backpackers that don't mind a bit of noise. People staying elsewhere can come to the hostel's bar and restaurant (serves great pizza) too. Make sure to check out the famous Père Lachaise cemetery round the corner and the buzzing, cultural Ménilmontant area full of great bars and restaurants.

I've been to Paris so many times I don't even care about which neighborhood I stay in.
I am so glad I stayed here!!
A great place to be if you want to explore Pere-Lachaise it is crazy cool and intimate.
I love that it was modern and had a Mac in every room.
I would say that if you have been to Paris and are looking for a new experience or neighborhood to explore you should stay here.
The bar is also a reason to hang out here, modern and trendy it is truly a Parisian experience! I marked this as both Budget and Luxury for two reasons. The 1st is that compared to other Paris hotels, this is a bargain. The 2nd reason, although the price is moderate they didn't skimp on quality and the restaurant/bar is excellent!

Primarily a hotel, Mama Shelter creates a genuinely warm atmosphere to enjoy an apéro. I have always chosen to sit at the Island Bar, with its glass counter and clever lighting, it gives a good perch to watch your cocktail being mixed. To me, it has a hint of New York in there. Designed by Philippe Starck, Mama Shelter serves a cocktail worth travelling for. There is also a pizzeria and a restaurant
