The Lumiere brothers introduced the world to film in 1895 at the Hotel Scribe. The beautiful historical building is ornate with statuettes, chandeliers and velvet sofas and armchairs to lounge in. The reception stafd are exceptionally helpful and friendly. There s a renowned restaurant as well as a reading room and a spa to enjoy. Though far from being as grand as the rest of the hotel, the rooms are spacious, the matresses top quality and the windows perfectly sound proofed. The location is ideal too for seeing the sights - notably the Opera Garnier next door - and for shopping on the Boulevard Haussmann.

I liked the understated luxury here because it's elegant but not stuffy. The amenities are the best part: jacuzzi, spa, fitness center, minibar in room included. The rooms are fairly small for the price though and even though you have a balcony, you can't go out on it or open the window. But it's neat that they still run the theater room where the Lumiere Brothers premiered the first film and you can still go in and watch it! Lots of business travelers, families, and couples. What's beautiful about it is the Opera is a block away and it's a romantic stroll when it's lit up at night! Plus the metro is in front. Shopping is a big part of this area, very central hotel.

This hotel is beautiful and sumptuous with a gorgeous gastronomic restaurant, but I especially loved bar area with its gorgeous spiral staircase. The concierges are really helpful and friendly, and the hotel is perfectly situated near the Opéra and the department stores in Grands Boulevards. True to its name, the hotel boasts a good number of books throughout the lobby. Its history as a screening place for one of the films of the Lumière brothers makes it feel like you're stepping into artistic and creative history!

I love Hotel Scribe. The location is perfect for the Opera, Louvre, Shopping and dinning. In addition, the bed, pillows and show are heaven. I would recommend.

This is yet another fancy hotel in the Opéra/Madeleine area of Paris that faces the Grand Intercontinental, right by the beautiful Opéra Garnier. A grand entrance with chandeliers leads you to a refined reading room with velvet couches and bronze horse statues as well as a light filled restaurant with red plush chairs and black and white photos. Everyone here is very friendly and they are available for your every need. Rooms are pricey but everything in this hotel oozes elegance, which has a price in Paris. You are in a wonderful neighborhood, perfect for exploring the city by foot, as Madeleine church, Place de la Concorde, the Louvre, and famous department stores (such as Galleries Lafayette and Printemps) are just a short walk away.

I really liked this hotel, which has a very literary atmosphere. The Lumiere Brothers screened the first movies in the history of cinema within the walls of this very modern hotel. There are books all around the reception, as well as the second floor of the cafe area. Each floor is dedicated to a famous guest like Marcel Proust, who adorns the walls of the second-floor hallway. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well-lit. The modern, executive design felt a bit cold but was counteracted by the artsy, rustic air around the sleeping area. The spa and fitness area on the ground floor is small, but fully equipped to handle a few guests at a time.
