I loved this zoo. It's by far the biggest one I've ever been too. Go early for good parking (which is free) and to be able to see the most. It definitely takes some time to see it all but it is time well spent.

Great place to visit while staying at our property. It is easy to drive from our home within minutes to the interstate and only a couple of minutes from our home to the interstate. I will be happy to tell you all about this wonderful attraction.

I am a sucker for zoos and aquariums, and I have been to a lot of them. It still surprises me just how awesome the Omaha Zoo is. I really like the aquarium, especially the long corridors under the water with benches that let you sit under the swimming fish. The indoor rain-forest and desert exhibits are also very good. They also have a huge outdoor space with the typical zoo stuff.

Wowsers! My socks were totally knocked off by the time I finished touring everything. I visited the zoo mid-December, no snow, but definitely cold weather in the low 30s. Thankfully, most of the exhibits are indoors.

Some highlights included the tropical rainforest exhibit. The layout is impressive as I was within feet of animals. Certainly there were railings and such, but they were still close enough. One of my favorites was a gibbon was swinging back and forth with her baby grabbing onto her body. Another interesting fact was near closing time, feeding time happens, and many bats flew right over my head. Perhaps too close for comfort, but neat nonetheless.

Since it's cold in the winter, many animals are housed indoors such as giraffes. A baby giraffe was recently born and I snapped a picture in his/her resting state.

The tigers were another area of excellence. There were 3 tigers and a lion caged in a row. One of the tigers was very entertaining as he/she paced back and forth for over 30 minutes. Yes, I watched the tigers/lion for that long! The lion wasn't in the best mood that day, it growled a couple times.

The only exhibit I didn't see, but really wanted to was the live butterfly room. Apparently that's only open for a few hours a day, only about 6-8 people inside at one time. By the time I got there, it closed for the day. However, I did see the mounted butterflies and its lab.

I can't say enough good things about this zoo, especially when the admission price is so reasonable at $13.50! If I'm near Omaha in the future, I will make time to visit again!

I thought we could see everything here in about four hours. I was wrong. We were there for six and a half hours, and while we saw a good majority of the zoo, we didn't see everything. And we didn't stop for any of the shows that were held around the zoo, either. The zoo is currently in the process of expanding, as well. Henry Doorly Zoo is consistently ranked as one of the best zoos in the country, and I would have to agree that it's definitely one of the best. Most of the zoo was located within different pavilions, but there was stuff outdoors as well. Favorite areas include the Lied Jungle, the Desert Dome, and the Kingdom of the Night. Our legs were tired by the end of the day.

Ranked the "#1 Zoo in the World" Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is the finest zoo you will ever visit!

The zoo is currently undergoing a massive construction project ( the largest in the zoo's history) for what will be the newest addition – the African Grasslands – A true full-immersion safari experience covering more than 28 acres! Will so much to experience, the construction will likely go unnoticed.

If you are a "save the best for last" kind of person, it's a tie between the Scott Aquarium & the Lied Jungle. The aquarium features all forms of vibrant ocean life from Arctic penguins & the fan favored shark tunnel, to Caribbean corals & Amazonian piranhas. The jungle is America's largest indoor rainforest & showcases tropical ecosystems from South America, Asia and Africa. Other must-see exhibits are the Desert Dome, the Butterfly & Insect Pavilion & Gorilla Valley. Some of the animals, like the lions and bears, are accessible both indoors & outdoors depending on the season.

While Henry Doorly Zoo is awesome for all ages, you will likely get suckered into taking a train ride around the zoo as soon as your kids hear that piercing whistle blow! According to the zoo's website, "To date Omaha’s Zoo No. 119 is the only 30 inch gauge true Steam Locomotive built by Crown."

Last but not least, the best place to catch your breath, some shade and rest your feet is at the Lozier IMAX theater near the entrance of the zoo. The theater is typically cycling 2-3 movies every 1-1.5 hours - including 3D movies!

This is hands down the best zoo or animal park I have ever been to. It's a definite must see attraction. The exhibits are over the top and really capture the animals' natural habitats. Its like how Disney is really detailed oriented and really immerses you in the environment, but even Disney's animal parks can't compete with this one.

My family and I had a wonderful time at this zoo. It's really not so much an aquarium but I'm use to Baltimore's Aquarium which is very big. They did have water life and a great underwater tunnel that trumped the NJ Aquariums tunnel (which is what it is know for). The zoo is still growing and has new things all the time. I will definitely be planning another trip.

A great place to learn about a large variety of animals, get face to face with great white sharks, feed goats and parakeets, all while getting in a good workout.

Most people wouldn't expect a place like Omaha to have one of the best zoos in the world, but it does. My favorite exhibits include the jungle (great to visit on freezing days in the middle of January), the aquarium, and the Kingdoms of Night. They also have a really nice new gorilla house, butterfly exhibit, and Madagascar building. I usually skip the big cats, which are housed in a facility that was world class when it was built in the 70's but kind of depressing now.
