It's nice to just stroll down this historic promenade. Due to it's stone beaches this part of the coastline does have a beautiful turquoise color to it.

Promenade des Anglais is a vast stretch and the most celebrated seafront in Nice. It is named after the expat patrons who paid for it and offers amazing views of the city, the beaches and blue seas. Numerous cafes and restaurants are located along the promenade which is practically always brimming with tourists doing one thing or another. From power walks to a gentle stroll, to experience the promenade is to understand Nice.

Gorgeous sparkling seaviews! From sunrise to sunset, a great place to stroll with ice cream, ride a bicycle, or try out rollerblading. This is a must-do in Nice and you can't really avoid it in fairness.

You cannot visit Nice without strolling the Promenade des Anglais. It is busy with tourists, cyclists, skaters, dog walkers, joggers, but it is worth it for the views. And there are lots of cafes and restaurants to take a refreshment break.

Walk along the Promenade des Anglaises past the Hotel Negresco around to the old port of Nice to see the fishing boats at the far side of the port. Stop off at some of the beach restaurants.

Nice is really Nice.
My first introduction to the Cote D'azur and Nice was in 1960. And I have been back several times and have seen how this city has changed for the good.
Nice, once an Italian city, with the name Nikia (after Nike the Greek Goddess of Victory) what can still be seen in the beautiful old Italian section of the city, its market, seafood restaurants and narrow streets and shops.
In 1861 was finally Nice French. After the discovery by the Brittse aristocracy, thinking of Promenade des Anglais (the English Promenade) Nice changed from a rather small fishing town transformed into a fashionable seaside resort.
Nice has beautiful wide avenues, excellent shopping and thriving cafes and terraces. Just walk around, take a dip or swim in the sea, visit the antiques and flower market, the harbour and relax.
Many tourists find Nice expensive, but if you pay attention and go a bit further from the sea and the promenade you will find enough cheaper shops, cafes and restaurants.
Just walk and Explore!
Tip If you want to drink beer then order a “Demi Pression” then you get a half pint French beer (Good quality Beer from the French Alsace near the German border) that Beer is many times cheaper than other foreign beer they like to serve to tourists and it’s usualy much cheaper . Would you like a glass of wine ask for by a glass red wine “Unne Verre de vin Rouge de la Maison” or by a glass white wine order a “Verre Vin Blanc de la Maison”.

There are a lot of little shops and cafes along the promenade, and it's almost better sitting at one of those and watching people from afar than walking on the concrete strip and battling tourists during the summer. It is beautiful at night, though, and certainly more manageable once the crowds have died down. I found a lovely jewelry shop at the South end, and I came away with a beautiful charm that still reminds me of this glamorous city .

The Promenade des Anglais is an iconic boardwalk, perfect for long strolls and soaking up the atmosphere of the Cote d'Azur. Sure, lots of other people will be there, too, but for good reason.

With views out across one of the finest bays along the French Riviera, the Promenade des Anglais is an absolute must when you visit Nice. This is where the locals take their exercise, their French poodles, and their time drinking in the beautiful Meditteranean sunshine and relaxed atmosphere which spreads to the blue horizon.
Admire the architecture of the huge buildings as you meander along, making sure to take in Le Negresco, the famous hotel which first opened its doors in 1913, and since then has played host to Royalty and Celebrity including Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke and Dutchess of Windsor, the Beatles, Ava Gardner, James Dean, Frank Sinatra, Ernest Hemingway and Edith Piaf. Why not treat yourself to lunch in Le Chantecler, the finest restaurant in Nice and one of two inside the hotel which Bill Gates tried to buy, only to be told "You're not rich enough."
Along the Promenade are cycle hire racks if you want to enjoy the views whilst pedalling along. The first 30 minutes are free, enough time to cover the 3 mile long promenade and back if you desire. Separate cycle lanes are marked out along the Promenade.

Walking along the promenade in May is beautiful. Regal hotels and restaurants line one side and the blue waters of the Mediterranean the other, with beautiful sunbathers and happy lovers sprinkled on either side. Nice place to jog.

The Promenade des Anglais is maybe the best feature of Nice where this wide sidewaks avenue is all along the beach, perfect for walks, bicycles or just sitting by the bench. It would be a blessing if your Hotel is on this avenue.
