where many European immigrants started on their journey of becoming Americans. Although entry into the statue was restricted after the September 11th attacks, visitors now have more access. If you plan far, far in advance (at least three months and up to a year for high season), you can snag an opportunity to climb the crown. Access to both sights is only by ferry, but the ride itself is one of the best bang-for-your-buck sightseeing tours in the world. UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The second most boring place or maybe the first most boring place I've ever been to for being such a thing to see it's nothing to see it's super boring it takes forever to get up to actually see the Statue of Liberty and then you have to look through these mini telescopes you put $.25 into and that's only way you can actually see it it's that far away and it's cold and it's horrible.

I loved visiting the Statue of Liberty. The boat ride to Ellis Island was lovely and the view from the statue was great. A great outing for everyone.

I've done this a few times now so take my advice don't go from Battery Park! during peak season. You will be waiting on line for hours! Instead, jump on the PATH train over the NJ and then get the lightrail to Liberty Park. Spend some time exploring the park and then make your way down to take the tour from the bottom of the park. If you want to head back to New York after just go back over to Elis Island and then take the ferry back to NYC. You will get some epic views of the NYC skyline, save hours queuing and get to explore Liberty Park. Wins all round!

Great little self guided walking tour of the island it self. The pedestal and crown yours were sold put so not much else to do there besides enjoy the views and meander around the island. Very diverse crowds of people, lots of couples with to much pda if you have children. Lady liberty is a beautiful masterpiece and a great symbol of our freedom. A must see for anyone interested in engineering or sculpting and the arts. Great for children as it's our most recognizable symbol of the usa.

What a beautiful symbol of our country's freedom! The boat takes you to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and then back to Manhattan. A Statue of Liberty Museum is to be opened within the next two years, and there is a reasonably-priced café there to eat at.

Secret tip: If you don't want to actually to to the island, you can get beautiful views of the Statue of Liberty from the *free* "Staten Island Ferry" ride from Battery Park Manhattan.

I went here a while back. It was one of my first trips to NYC. But I just love it. The down side is that there is a wait, because it seems like everybody goes here, but it is worth it.

The best shot of lady liberty is from a boat. It's the only way I've seen it and I'm not really interested in getting closer. It's not that i don't like her, but it keeps some of the beauty by not getting as close. Much like actual liberty. I would recommend going on the shark(I think it's called that). They will take you on a ride you'll never forget:)

I wasn't able to go on this tour on my first New York trip but was fortunate enough to go the second time around and I loved it! It's such a wonderful experience. I got the pedestal ticket and it was definitely worth the extra bucks. I'm considering maybe getting the crown tickets next time to go all the way to the top. Highly recommend!

The best way to see the Statue of Liberty without waiting in line all day is to take the Staten Island Ferry for free from downtown Manhattan. Or, for a fun day excursion, get an all day pass from the Water Taxi NYC from Red Hook and hop on and off the ferry all day long.
