Thumbs up to Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux for designing this masterpiece. Central Park was built to relieve the pressures of day to day existence in the crowded and dirty NY of the mid 19th century. It was also intended to be a place where people from all walks of life could mingle and integrate. Though it has taken some time to achieve this vision, I'd argue that Central Park is closer to meeting these objectives today than it has been for most of its history.

This is a great place to linger for the day or to enjoy a quick break from the concrete jungle. The park is much larger than you might expect. Savour it over time instead of trying to experience it all in one visit.

Exploring the park shortly after 8 am was the highlight of our trip. Seeing iconic locations with glorious sunlight made the experience magical. Joggers, people out walking their dogs, ice skaters and classical musicians combined to make it a memorable experience.

If Manhattan is the center of the capital of the world, Central Park is the center of Manhattan, so it is the belly button of the Universe. Beautiful every day of the year, every season

I love Central Park because there is multiple things to do in one place. You can go from the park to the zoo then the Conservatory.

What a wonderful refuge from the hustle and bustle of New York City. There are a lot of scenic points to visit and relax. There are also a lot of local activities within the park. Next time I visit I'd like to rent a bike and ride around the park.

So many parts to explore and little gems to find inside that you won't do it all in one go. Conveniently situated to nip out to Manhatten streets for lunch and a beer then go back in again.

Beautiful especially in the autumn! Many things to do and see! Great for all. Definitely walk and public transportation, don't recommend driving here as parking is nearly impossible or expensive

A green oasis in the middle of urban Manhattan, Central Park is beautiful in every meaning of the word. With restaurants and cafés, lakes and ponds, bridges, a zoo, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a historic castle, Strawberry Fields, and acres of green space, it doesn't disappoint.

Hands down Central Park is one of the best places to visit in NYC year round! It's filled with history, its a respite from the chaotic streets, and a great place to stroll. But it can be daunting to explore all 843 acres of the park, a task that not even the most seasoned New Yorker partakes in, so let me give you the top 3 places to maximize a enjoyable and rich experience in this iconic world-renowned park:

1. Sheep Meadow - grab some amazing food to-go and make yourself an impromptu picnic for yourself, the family, or with friends. You get great views of the city while basking in the tranquility of sitting in one of NYC's most well-kept meadows.

2. Bethesda Terrace - fun fact the only example of Victorian tiling found on a ceiling (instead of the floor) is found here. Sit and listen to buskers play, watch as countless star-crossed lovers take their wedding photos, and tourists ogle at the beautify details designed by the original Central Park designer Calvert Vaux in 1865. Also admire the fountain which has been the locations of so many great NYC movies.

3. Bow Bridge - just a few steps away from Bethesda fountains is the longest cast-iron bridge in the park. It's one of 35 bridges featured in the park, each bridge has its distinct style and construction material. But the Bow Bridge overlooks the pond and the famous Upper West Side skyline featured in films such as Ghost Busters and When Harry Met Sally.

4. The Rambles - this part of Central Park is the easiest to get lost in, but in a good way! It's winding trails through thick foliage home to 235 species of birds who make their stop in this area of NYC on their migratory journeys across the globe. You can even borrow a free bird watching kit at Belvedere Castle. Here you will lose sense that you're in the city, but still find your way out in 30 minutes or less.

You can visit these four spots in under 2 hours, but I encourage to dedicate a few more hours to truly grasp how amazing of an undertaking was constructing this park.
