I had been to this Max Brenner ages ago on my first trip into NYC. It used to have a vat of chocolate being stirred in it but that’s gone now, as most locations of this famed chocolate shop are. They still have a chocolate predominant menu. My friends and I ordered the chocolate martini and the mocha madness cocktails. We also ordered the half chocolate pizza with the works. We had previously been eating all day so this was fairly late dessert for us. The service was not that great but we made due. Originally, we had a reservation for 8 people but it dwindled to 4. Unfortunately, when we checked in, there were just 2 and they would not seat us until the entire party was there. Really? But, I digress. Our server was great until she had to go home and was replaced by another girl who wasn’t as stellar. Our other friends showed up and one of them ordered a steak off of the menu. Yes, they serve real food in addition to copious amounts of chocolate. We paid in cash at the table.

Really cute high end chocolate shop by Union square - perfect place to take a date. They have a store front where you can order chocolates to take home. However, you should dine in and try all the unique dessert and chocolate drink options. I like the classic hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Max Brenner is a chocolate lover's dream come true. Their entrees are good, but what you really come for is the desert. The fondue for two is a favorite.

Delicious! The chocolate fondue isn't that special, but I love their dessert drinks and chocolate pizza!

I like to take my first dates to Max Brenner because who doesn't like chocolate besides a sociopath, which is a good way to weed out sociopaths from your dating life.

Obviously, this is your "cheat-type" resto, where you can satisfy your choco fix cravings and other not so healthy foods, loaded with calories. Anyway, for my dessert,
I ordered Dark Chocolate Covered Cherry Waffles with ice cream. Was not too crazy about it. The scoop of ice cream serving was small for someone who likes ice cream. My friend ordered churros, that was good. I wish I can have each and every dessert, but that's impossible in just one sitting. As far as the main menu, I ordered flat bread pizza. I thought it was ok (only bc I had the best flat bread pizza elsewhere). I am not a Mac and cheese person, but upon trying my friend's Crunchy Mac and Cheese, I was sold! Over all it was a unique experience, I must say!

It's good, but it's such a tourist destination and really overpriced. I don't recommend getting dinner here, just dessert. The chocolate cocktails are also worth it, but also expensive.

If you're a fan of chocolate, step right up! Max Brenner was one of those early discoveries when I visited NYC long ago and it's become one of those staples for a great meal and dessert.

As the chocolate by the bald man, Max Brenner is certainly best known for its desserts. It's heavy, thick and probably not the most healthy (although their slogan now is "Chocolate is good for you") but I say bring it on! In the past I've ordered desserts like the Suckao which is a concentrated chocolate shot in this beautiful egg shaped glass with a candle underneath to keep it heated. Yep I told you these guys were serious about their chocolate. I've had their Max I-Scream as well where you get to dip your own vanilla ice cream bar in pure melted chocolate, choco-pops and hazelnut crunchy bits. Lastly, their fondue tower for 2 is epic. Epic proportions and such a great selection of things you never thought could be dipped in chocolate.

What's great about Max Brenner is that not only is their dessert fantastic but their mains are just as delicious. You don't need to make your way here just to satisfy your dessert cravings, but you can also have a full meal as well.

If you love chocolate, you love Max. There isn't much more to say. I make it a point to come every time I am in New York. I am a personal fav of their chocolate pizza but if you do not have time to eat anything, try a chocolate martini and grab a box of chocolates to go ;)

Quite touristy, but I can overlook that since they put chocolate in almost everything! Avoid on weekends, but otherwise a great place when you have a chocolate craving.

Today I came to Max Brenner, the wait was one hour. I waited for a table of 5, when seated I could barely fit my legs under the table. When talking to the hostess I asked to be reseated and was informed it would be an additional 45 minutes wait. The manager also cosigned the foolishness. I couldn't sit and eat, I only stayed because my two, five and fourteen year old was starving. Once my favorite place, is now somewhere I will never spend money at again. I'm a firm believer in customer experience, and customer service and I didn't receive any tonight! # RestaurantsGetTooBigToGiveService# #CheersToFindingANewFavorite#

Waaaay too crowded and touristy - if there's a wait of more than 15 minutes, don't bother. I was taking my relatives around the city, and after stopping off at the Union Square Holiday Market, my nephew wanted to try this place. After a wait of about 40 minutes (in a very crowded waiting area, with no seating) we were seated. Our waiter seemed like a nice fellow, but totally overwhelmed by his job - we saw him hand the wrong credit card back to one table and was just completely flustered by the chaos surrounding him. The regular (read: non-dessert food) was okay - got the butternut squash soup and was neither impressed nor disappointed. The desserts were pretty good, but again, not worth a 40 minute wait. I could get a better dessert from the Wafels and Dinges cart (albeit, with no place to sit) or an awesome cuppa hot chocolate from Burdick. You're better off going to a less touristy spot for your chocolate indulgence.

A bit touristy and the chocolate themed food is not quite as good as the menu makes it sound, but this busy Union Square restaurant devoted to everything chocolate is definitely fun for kids, if not for their parents.

Even though its geared towards family and tourists, the food and drinks are good. Great bloody mary's and the waffles are great.

You like chocolate and different variety of them? Then this is the place to visit. Very few cities in US has this restaurant and NY is one of them. right next to Union square one of my friend introduced me here. If you just want to have chocolate drinks and don't have time to spend for a table, goto the counter and do hop in-hop off.

Often busy, often noisy but if you like CHOCOLATE then this is it! FYI, this is a full service restaurant not just a chocolate shop. The food is good but the desserts are better. Their hot chocolate is great on a cold day and you can just stop in and get one to go. they even have something called a chocolate pizza - imagine that!

I cannot think of a better place to indulge the guilty pleasures of life, such as chocolate. This chocolate paradise turned restaurant provides every type of chocolate you can think of, topped by sinful ice-creams, enticing marshmallows and oh so many more. They also serve delicious dishes, to go along with the amazing desserts. My advice: make a reservation or go early. Perfect spot to begin a dinner & a movie night; the movie theatre is just across the street!
