If you can't find the lights in this swanky hotel, your room comes equipped with a candle! The bathrooms are stocked with yummy Malin + Goetz products. The rooms are small (typical of NYC), but modern, sleek and well lit plus you're right by Bryant Park.

Wow, do you feel like you've arrived when you walk in. It's dark and oozes cool and the lobby/lounge/bar area seems to go on forever. For a place that is smack in the middle of things, it’s quiet, cool, very chilled out. The check-in counters are tucked away in the wall to the right (look quick as you might miss them). The rest of the hotel feels like you’re on a boat. The hallways have gray, curved walls with rivets (kind of like a submarine) and the room doors look like boat cabins (all done on purpose by French designer Philippe Starck). While a standard room is on the smallish side, the ‘disco’ tub shower with mirrored mosaic tiles (maybe in honor of Studio 54’s Ian Schrager, who opened the place in the 1980s) more than makes up for it. It’s just a bummer that you have to pay extra for Wi-Fi and there is no room service on the weekends.

Very stylish Phillipe Stark designed hotel. I was staying there for my birthday and the staff made me a birthday card.

I love this Hotel! The position is good for turn around the city on foot, because it is near many turistic places. The style of the hotel is very cool, I met Courtney Love there during a party! The rooms are not very big, but the bathroom is fantastic! It have a very big glass shower! It was very clean!

The Royalton still feels modern after all these years, in part because of sleek yet baffling design elements like a urinal system that resembles a regular bathroom wall, until the automatic waterfall is triggered and water rushes down it, splashing surprised men in the face as they fumble about the men's room, searching for the invisible urinal. (Or so I'm told). The rooms are teeny, teeny tiny and middle-of-the night room service consisted of someone sending up menus from an all-night diner located nearby, but this is basically a very good, if perhaps slightly silly, hotel.

I stayed here just after the place first opened and it was a breath of fresh air, in an otherwise staid hotel industry, at the time. Like many NYC hotels, the public areas are large and the rooms tend to be on the small side. I also have vague memories of the Phillipe Starck bathroom ware and likely I pissed into the sink by mistake one night.

Really love the Royalton. Brings back GREAT memories! Right in the heart of midtown, Royalton boasts a GREAT bar, basically the whole first floor! We loved to go here to people watch, drink until there's no tomorrow, and then people watch some more and drink some more. Even if you are not staying here, the lobby bar is worth a visit!
