My aunt and her husband. Edward Cobden owned the Gramercy Hotel in the late 1920's . My grandmother was hostess in the dining room and her sister in law was Chef. The Chef. I grew up on the lower east side of New York so don't think I saw much of the Gramercy other than it being posh and exclusive. The food was phenomenal when my aunt Nan would bring us leftovers from the Gramercy kitchen. Our Rockaway beach picnic basket had chicken au coquille ,roasted hard boiled eggs, fresh tomato salad. I was about three or four and can remember how special those picnics were. This was around 1937. I enjoyed seeing the hotel rooms and surrounds. Thank you.

Love this trendy, funky hotel. Great rooms with a fun bohemian feel. Great stay multiple times and great location of Gramercy Park and Union Square.

Rich in showbiz history, this was the place where Humphrey Bogart tied the knot in 1926 with Helen Menken, his first wife. Other illustrious former longer-term guests have included John F Kennedy and David Bowie. I haven’t been a guest here since the early 1990s, long before the property was acquired and refurbished by hotelier Ian Schrager (who has since sold it) – it has certainly seen better days back then.

The Gramercy Park Hotel feels like the perfect setting for a honeymoon or romantic getaway.
The decor, supposedly renaissance-inspired, is lavish, intimate, with a distinct touch of European romance. This is furthered by the fact that all guests get a coveted key to Gramercy Park, the lush private green space right outside the hotel.
The cozy restaurant is decorated with a mixture of classic and modern styles and serves and Italian dishes, while the ever-trendy Rose Bar features specialty cocktails and a fireplace! The atmosphere here is so special and decadent that I would have to consider it one of my favorite bars in the city!

Stylish property in a great location. One of the perks is that guests have access to Grammercy Park, highly coveted and only available to residents. Rooms are small but in-house food and beverage are excellent and the concierge does a great job of working perks at nearby restaurants. Was a bit full of itself at its peak but has become a bit more friendly over time. Breakfast on the rooftop is great when the weather is nice. Still popular with the fashion crowd.

Gramercy Park Hotel is such a pretty and fun hotel, I would stay there in a heartbeat, if I did not happen to live just a few blocks away. Great roof, great restaurant, great breakfast, great bar. Update: the rooms themselves would benefit from a bit of sprucing.
Update: we stayed here for a week because we were evacuated from our apartment and we loved being at this hotel. We were upgraded to a luxury suite that was larger than most one bedroom apartments and we were totally happy and comfortable. Our dog was given everything from his own dishes to a comfy bed and the staff was great. Room service takes an eternity and the food is not from Maiolino, but there are some good, if not thrilling, options on the menu. The hotel costs a fortune and all of the little extras add up fast, but it's a fabulous place to get stuck for a week.

Very ritzy, but not totally my style. I'd certainly stay here if I had to, but it's not my first choice

You come to Gramercy Park Hotel to feel like royalty and stay in an avant-garde jewel box of a palace. The aftertaste of this experience will be decidedly surreal, like you slipped down the rabbit hole with Alice in Wonderland. Do not forget to swing by Rose Bar for a nightcap and Gramercy Terrace for brunch.

Stayed at the Gramercy when I flew to NYC to try sell my children's book ABZebra to Holiday Book Publishers. It's quite a lovely old hotel providing sumptuous upscale lodgings. The hotel has a private little park a little way off, to which guests get a key, offering a little oasis where to enjoy a morning latte. It's situated a little too far from down-and-mid town to walk, so it's cab time to get around. Oh.....and no -- Holiday Books didn't take my ABZebra - meaning that little park has a special significance as that is where I went to reassess and drown my woes in a Colt 45!
