The first (and sometimes only) thing people think of when they hear "Nevada" is Las Vegas. Indeed, the state is home to the most famous gambling and entertainment city on the planet, but it's far more than Sin City; Nevada is chockablock full of activities that don't necessarily involve casinos and mega-hotels. The state is also home to some ... Read more
stunning geographic regions, including Red Rock Canyon Preserve, Lake Mead, and Great Basin National Park (home of the towering Wheeler Peak) -- as well as other leisure and vacation towns like Reno, Laughlin, and Lake Tahoe. The Hoover Dam will inspire you with its manifestation of humanity's technological prowess and force-of-will, while you can get back to your primal roots at the Burning Man Festival in the northern Black Rock desert. You can also pay a visit to the capital, Carson City, though the ho-hum Western city is a bit lacking in particularly exciting activities.

scorching 100 (40), but winters are much more pleasant. In the winter, Reno and Lake Tahoe draw big crowds of skiers and lovers of winter sports, while Las Vegas is crawling with vacationers pretty much year round. Nevada a silver state and admitted to the union on Oct 31, 1864. It has a wide range of activities to do and spend a life time doing all them. You can divided the state up into three parts which Reno and Carson City, Ely and Elko, and Las Vegas/Clark County.

Vegas is great but get out to the desert. Head to Virgin River Gorge in Arizona, or Hoover Dam

There is more to this state than Las Vegas, but you have to go looking and driving for it. There is some beautiful scenery in the Eastern Sierras and plenty of old mines in the North of the state.
