There is really not one bad thing to say about this hotel. It's all good. Great security. Gorgeous grounds. Wonderful old architecture that has been well maintained and updated. Quiet rooms with the nicest bathroom I've been in years. Outstanding shower. Impeccable service. Delicious morning buffet. Delicious dinner options. We cancelled out on another Nairobi hotel that we had really wanted to experience.

The Manor was built in 1932 by a member of the family that owned Mackintosh toffee. In 1974, it was bought by the Leslie-Melvilles who started the giraffe conservatory. The Project came about when a rancher asked them to take one baby Rothschild giraffe because there were only 130 left. And they were being poached. They started with one baby, got another to keep the first company and eventually started raising money so they could save the species. The Rothschild are the largest of the giraffes and have no pattern on their feet and ears. The males also have 4 horns. They are named after the man who discovered they are a separate species.

The giraffes visit at afternoon tea and breakfast. They're looking of their special pellets. Put one between your lips and they will "kiss" you.

If you are a fan of giraffes - this is heaven for you. As you eat breakfast, they poke their heads in. There is tons of feeding opportunities. My kids (10 and 15) spent hours feeding the giraffe. Place books up a year in advane during peak season. But its a stunning place to go

Breakfast is the highlight at this property with the giraffes gently poking their heads in to be hand fed pellets as you eat your breakfast. Try to get a table by the window! In the evening drinks are served in the lounge by an open fire and a laptop is available here for guests use...free of charge.
