Built in 1856 and recently renovated, Teatro Solis is the most important theatre in Montevideo. It is possible to visit on a guided tour, which takes place 3 times per day and normally lasts about one hour. An interesting attraction - if possible try to catch a show too.

A great Roman Architecture Theatre on Ciudad Vieja, close to the principal church.

Teatro Solis is probably one of the most beautiful buildings in all of Montevideo.

Pristine after a massive six-year makeover that finished in 2004, this neo-classical opera house is the architectural jewel of Montevideo, a city not particularly known for its picture-pretty buildings - you only have to look at the shiny monstrosity that is the new Presidential Building on the next block to appreciate how much Teatro Solís stands out in the capital of Uruguay.
