Two steps from the Duomo, other two for all the major sights that Milan can offer. It's very easy to reach using bus or tube. The building is old and compared with the rooms it seems to need a restoration. Rooms are modest and well furnished, they are clean and quiet despite the position. The windows shutter are little bit rotten and need to be clean it, as well as the mouldy spots in the toilet's ceiling. There is a lack in the attentions to details, anyway this place has potential, but it need to be improve. The breakfast is served in the bar in front of the hotel's entrance.
Despite the lacks, it is cheap and very central, it is the perfect place for customers who are not pretentious. At the end of the day it is a good value for money. I reckon this hotel can be a good choice for students and young couples who are not looking for anything special and need a place where sleep and enjoy Milan.

Great location. Budget price. Depressed staff. Decent rooms. But a terrific deal right near the Duomo. Breakfast is only OK. If you want a really terrific coffee and pastry go to one of the spots around the corner. The Rio charges 5 euros per 24 hours of wifi. You could skip this since Milan is full of free wifi in public spaces, cafes and restaurants.
Rio only gets three stars because I had booked my room 2.5 months previous. But when I arrived for a three-night stay, they wanted to put me in a room that would require a move. I said, No, I don't want to move. So they put me in a room with no air conditioning. (It was 11 pm and my will was fading.) It was a comfortable night, and I had the window open, until a smoke stack a couple of yards from the window belched wood smoke. I shut the window and realized that I was going to have to change rooms the next day. So I called the desk at 3 AM and complained bitterly about the room. I did change the next day, into cozy room 29 with A/C.
One of the benefits of the location of the Rio is that you can run around all morning, then easily get back to the hotel for the afternoon siesta. And the siesta requires A/C on hot days. There was a refrigerator in the room, and not until my last day did I find the nearby supermarket on Via Toledo. If I'd found it sooner I would have stocked the fridge with cold drinks and treats.

This small, family-run hotel is almost perfect. It offers really nice, little and newly restored bedrooms with their own private bathrooms and a nice bar. But to be honest, yes, it is clean, with new pieces of furniture and all the basic comforts, but what is really fantastic is its position. You can actually see Piazza del Duomo from its door. Do not get me wrong, because it seems as if this is the only hotel with a view (even if from an oblique angle) on the main piazza of the city. Well, it is not, but this is most definitely one of the cheapest, if not THE cheapest, you can find! And the bar (trust me, I am Italian) is probably the most typical Italian bar I have ever seen, small, with a big mirror and a coffee machine for your morning needs.

From outside, the neon sign makes this place look more like a dodgy cinema rather than a hotel. Inside, you want to compliment them on the recent restoration of some of the rooms and, at the same time, urge them to redo the hall and the bar too. Whilst the entrance is so 60’s, the bar is the real disgrace to the place: it looks more like a parish recreation centre, rather than an actual bar for grown-ups and paying customers. The parquet used in the new bedrooms is shiny and very nice, but the curtains look like they were taken from a circus. The best thing about it is definitely the price, so close to the Duomo and yet so cheap compared to most hotels in that area.
