Local from Miami

This hotel is situated inside of Mary Brickell Village, a shopping center with a Publix, a Starbucks, a few boutiques, many bars, and a variety of cafes and restaurants. It’s a nightlife hub, which gets extremely busy on the weekends. During the weekend days, it often gets packed as well with many residents shopping at the grocery store. Nevertheless, the hotel’s location is good because it’s next to Downtown Miami, Biscayne Bay, the Metromover, Key Biscayne and very close to Miami Beach, Coconut Grove and Coral Gables. Like many Hiltons, the hotel has a modern design appropriate to the location. This Hilton has a crystal chandelier in the lobby and colorful tropical-themed artwork that I’m sure I saw at Art Basel, such as a flamingo sculpture, a painting of a boat and another of palm trees. The tropical theme persists in the names of the ballrooms rooms: Heron and Egret. It also has a hip, poolside bar, offering happy hour from 5-7 p.m. The pool, on the sixth floor, is open 24 hours and has a nice view of the financial center of Brickell, which has many high-rises adjacent to the expansive bay. There’s also a restaurant next to the pool, making the sixth floor a center for entertainment. The studio rooms all have fridges and microwaves, but regular rooms don’t. They offer free wifi as well. But, it will cost you about 3000 dollars for a just a week to stay here. I’m not sure it’s worth it.

What a fun place! Bright colors of the hotels front are real spirit lifters. Inside the theme continues with original modern artwork, featuring some interesting optical illusions. Once the room is booked the bar treats guests to a free welcome drink and since Happy Hour on the pool deck bar starts daily at 5 pm, the party can continue. Even if you don’t plan to stay long, it might be worthwhile to upgrade to a suite. For not so much more money, they offer a lot more space; featuring a fancy sitting room plus a kitchenette with a microwave, a wet bar area and a little fridge. All rooms have a coffee maker, free WiFi and big Flatscreen TVs with HBO channels, which is nice. This Hampton Inn also impresses with some green features, like thermostat-bases occupancy sensors, dual-flush toilets and a master light switch. Look for the Miami chic-rate or other specias when booking online. As all Downtown Hotels the Hampton charges for overnight parking. Some of the online specials cut the parking fee in half.

Local from Miami Beach

This is one of the nice Hampton Inn hotels that I've seen and it's located right in the heart of Brickell. For the budget and the free amenities this would be my suggestion for someone watching their spending but who doesn't want to miss out. You get free breakfast, free wifi, and a free drink from the bar with every stay. What's not free however, is the parking, which is always limited downtown anyway. You are right next door to Batch, a hugely popular sports bar that gets very crazy during soccer and UF games. You're within walking distance of Brickell which has a ton of local restaurants. I suggest OTC for an amazing brunch. The rooms are very clean and spacious, although not much a view. The pool is smaller, but does have a pool bar which helps add to the relaxation.

The Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Downtown/Brickell looks a lot better on the inside. While the exterior isn’t bad, it doesn’t do the interior justice. When you walk in the entrance there is a small lobby with concierge but that’s not the actual hotel lobby. Upstairs on the 6th floor is where everything is. Here, you’ll find the main lobby, business center, breakfast area, fitness room and pool. The rooftop bar is also pretty happening during it’s daily happy from 5-7pm. While it’s not high-end by any means, it’s still nice with a slight sleekness to it that makes for a welcoming stay. The staff is very friendly and eager to make your time there more accommodating. The hotel is also located right in Brickell so it's close to all the surrounding bars, restaurants and shops.
