Mexico City often gets unfairly left out of the mix of great North American travel destinations, but travelers here invariably discover the Distrito Federal offers countless surprises. The formidable pre-Columbian city of Teotihuacan, located just outside the city, rivals the Pyramids of Egypt in size, beauty and historic importance. The Centro Historico, home to the Aztec Templo Mayor, is a highlight for vacationers who simply enjoy walking through the Zócalo, the world’s third largest square behind Moscow’s Red Square and Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. Also atop many visitors lists of things to do is the Chapultepec park, complete with a zoo and many museums, including the National Museum of Anthropology, widely regarded as one of the world’ ... s most important museums dedicated to the field. For shopping and nightlife, check out the Polanco borough, one of the wealthiest in Mexico City – designers like Chanel and Hermes have shops here. When it comes time to eat, the D.F. does not skimp on options or quality. Unique Mexican dishes and snacks like esquites or Puebla can be found at institutions from your corner vendor to a five-star restaurant in the Polanco. For lodging, look in the Zona Rosa for the most reasonably priced hotels or in Polanco for swank stays.
If you think the area around Mexico City will have a similar climate to that of its beachy brethren, think again. The altitude of Mexico’s capital means that the temperatures are mild all year long, with nights often dipping into the 40s and mid 50s (5°-13°C), even during the summer. A great time to visit is between March and May. These are the warmest months, with temperatures slowly climbing to a daytime peak of about 80°F (27°C), after which things start to cool off again with the rainy season that lasts from June through October. It is still possible to travel during this season, just be sure to get your sightseeing done before late afternoon when the rain typically begins.

What can I say about one of the cities with the best weather in the world!? Well, yes, it is a bit dangerous if you don't take some precautions, but be careful and enjoy it!

A fantastic and beautiful city! A close plan trip from my home in Miami, but a world away in terms of feel and atmosphere. I am glad I came and will certainly be back.
Large city so we only got a taste in the 4 days we were there. Next trip... another part.

One of my favorite cities in the world. Traffic can be rough but if you are looking for a more chill life try maybe Oaxaca.

Mexico City was added to one of our favorite cities in the world by the second day we were there(first time visiting). The city is alive and vibrant. It is far different from the more frequently visited beachside resorts. DF is a mega metropolis that has a lot of culture, history, and charm. It is very European yet it has its own character. The museums and the architecture were amazing. I hope to find myself back here again soon!

If you're lucky enough to arrive in Mexico City by air, and on a clear day, you'll immediately understand why this place is designated an "Alpha" global city. DF is vast, stretching off in all directions as far as the eye can see.

That said, many of the main attractions - incredible restaurants, historical sites, world-beating museums etc. - are fairly close together and getting around is easy. Taxis are cheap, Uber is cheaper still (for non-locals) and the Metro is extensive. Top neighborhoods to visit are Roma, Juárez, Condesa, Polanco, Coyoácan, San Angel and the area around the Zócalo.

If, like elements of the media, you've mentally tarred Mexico City with the crime-ridden brush of other parts of the country, you'll be pleasantly surprised. This is a sophisticated, safe-feeling, creative and colorful metropolis, with one of the friendliest big-city populations you'll ever meet.
