No trip to Myanmar is complete without experiencing one of the many tea houses. Due to the general absence of bars or nightlife, the tea house has become the natural rendezvous for the Burmese people. They're a staple of literally every street in Myanmar. Inside, you'll find they're mostly dominated by male crowds sat around small tables drinking Shan tea, smoking, and chatting boisterously. This particular tea house in Hsipaw, La Wün Aung, never closes. and if you're a football enthusiast you'll be delighted to hear this place screens international football matches. The atmosphere in the tea houses during these matches is electric, and often due to the time difference they'll be screened halfway through the night. You can also rent motorbikes here for K8000 a day (approx £4).
