Description
A close jaunt from the Prado and you've arrived at the Parque del Buen Retiro, Madrid's largest park at 350 acres. The crown jewel of this space is the Palacio de Cristal, or Crystal Palace, built in ... Read more
1887 for the Phillipine Islands exhibition and still used for exhibits today. The park is also home to the Monument to Alfonso XII of Spain, the Fountain of the Falling Angel, a massive rose garden, and the remains of the Buen Retiro Palace. El Retiro, as the park is fondly known, is an escape from big city life and a wonderful way to explore the greener side of Madrid.

Casa de Campo is the biggest park of the city, but it’s too far. Retiro is pretty, full of life and an the most iconic park of Madrid.

El parque del retiro is great for locals and tourists, for people taking a walk or exercising to families spending time. I enjoy it a lot and it has a great atmosphere. One of my favorite places in Madrid.

I love the Retiro Park! When I lived in Madrid I used to go quite often! One of my favorite memories was rowing the boats with my boyfriend and it was so romantic!

While in Madrid if you make your way to Retiro Park definitely take the boats out. Barcas (boats): Monday to Friday 5,80 € / Saturday & Sunday 7,50 € for the boat not per person. It's great for pictures!

The park is huge! I didn't even walk the entire thing because my feet were so tired from the rest of the city, but the park is beautiful. I was there in the winter so a bit cold but I bet it is gorgeous in the summer. There is so much to do you can be a tourist, runner/biker, family oriented or just somewhere to go with friends. Definitely a must see in Madrid

The Central park of Madrid.
Do not miss out the Rose garden, the lake, the Cristal Palace and check the free art exhibition at Palacio de Velazquez (they sometimes give out free entrance to Reina Sofia Museum)
My favorite view point: Plaza del Parterre

This park is just like NYC's Central Park. Huge and really entertaining. We had picnics and just hung out in the grass during the weekends

An amazingly huge and beautiful park that you just need to 'retire at.' I chilled there before my flight out the next day with sangria and sandwiches. Very relaxing park.

I love parks and this is one of my favourite ones. The Parque del Buen Retiro is one of the biggest parks in Madrid and can be filled with loads of people over the weekend. Try to head on over during the weekdays for a nice, leisurely stroll.

Something that I admire about the Spaniards is family time. Retiro park is a perfect place for families to spend time enjoying a simple picnic or a boat ride with some ice cream

Fantastic and very large park best seen on a warm Sunday afternoon when half of Madrid's population is there on their weekly stroll.

This is one of the more beautiful city center parks that I have ever walked through. It is massive and you can get lost walking around it for hours. There are also plenty of concession stands and places to grab a drink on a hot Spanish day.

Vast, lovely landscaping makes this a fun place for a stroll or to people watch. They have a basic playground area for young kids (ideal for 4yrs or under). Seemed nice even on a chilly Xmas day.

1,4 km2 for the perfect retreat from the metropolis' buzz. Relaxing, picknicking, rowing on the pond, lunchbreaking, skateboarding, walking the dog, tennising or romancing are just some of the most popular activities.
