Description
The LA Farmers Market has evolved from a group of farmers selling their wares in a dirt parking lot to its modern day venue, a beautiful row of shops, restaurants and produce stalls. Known as a mecca ... Read more
for both Los Angeles foodies and tourists, the variety of specialty foods is impressive - stock up on meat at Huntington Meats & Sausage, buy fresh linguine at Pappardelle's Pasta, and get a snack for the ride home at the Magic Nut & Candy Company stall. Stores full of knickknacks and quality appliances alike dot the street, and it's easy to come away with both groceries and a few new wardrobe additions.

The LA Farmers Market serves a wide variety of goods and produce. It’s nice to peruse and see what the market has to offer.

Lots of different foods to try if you’re into getting different things here and there instead of sitting down for food.

It's expensive to eat here. At least, that's how it felt. But the food was good. So it was worth it.

Since 1934 this has been an icon for fresh food, restaurants, and recently added The Grove next door to the original farmers market

The closest institution that approximates the LA Farmer’s Market for me is the Spice Bazaar in Istanbul. Fruit stands and gourmet spice, fish and meat shops are arrayed cheek by jowl with street food and fancy restaurants. It’s a fascinating amalgamation.

Not impressed and to pay $20 to park was just ridiculous. I've seen farmer's markets that were actually markets and not just random food stalls.

Established in 1934, The Original Farmers Market remains one of the last true time capsules of Los Angeles history and culture. With over 100 independent family-owned grocers, restaurants, speciality shops and eateries, this beloved L.A. landmark is a must-visit destination, whether you live across the street or across the world.

The Farmers Market at the Grove is an L.A. institution. Since the 1930s the Farmers Market has been a gathering place for farmers, and still is today. While it has definitely changed over the years, it still manages to retain its charm. There are food options galore here, from Thai to burgers to crepes (what I chose). It's a fun place to wander around and explore even if you don't buy or eat anything!

Great place to spend a couple of hours or the whole day. Lots of local food vendors, very reasonable. Shops, movie theaters, people watching and several good restaurants to chose from

The original Los Angeles Farmers Market is a historic cornerstone of LA. Connected to The Grove, a section of the original Farmer's Market remains in use today:
"Fred Beck & Roger Dahlhjelm wanted to build a "Village" at the corner of 3rd & Fairfax where local farmers could sell their fresh fare. E.B. Gilmore agreed to give it a go. In July 1934, a dozen farmers and a few other merchants parked their trucks at the corner of 3rd & Fairfax and sold their fresh produce from the back of the trucks. By October 1934, mere months after it opened, farmers and merchants, including restaurants, grocers and service providers, were moving into permanent stalls and the new Farmers Market was so popular that its founders staged a celebration, the first Fall Festival at Farmers Market." - FarmersMarketLA.com

Tons of outdoor eatery options & fresh produce shopping. Monsieur Marcel has a decent French bistro styled in the market for a typical cheese & wine experience.

Located across the road from The Grove, the Original Farmer's Market is more food-related and has a large food court with lots of choices of things to eat. There are a few other non-food related stores here as well.

If you need a break from the pretentiousness that is The Grove, head over to the Farmers Market.

The farmers market has variety of things to eat. From Chinese food to gumbo and everything in between. The great thing is it's right next door to the Grove.
