The special events throughout the year are probably the best thing. If you have time and plan it out well, you can get a chance to feed the giraffes and touch the hippopotamus

We've been to some of the best zoos in the country (San Diego, St. Louis, Omaha), but the LA Zoo ranks right up there with them. Seeing the animals in a zoo doesn't compare with seeing them in the real world, but for some of the animals, it would be impossible to see them outside of a zoo. I thought that the nursery area for the zoo was sort of hard to find--we stumbled upon it without looking, but it was in an area that seemed counter-intuitive to me. There is also a lot of walking necessary here.

I went to a special night time event at the LA Zoo. It was a little too spread out and the quantity of animals was small, but the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable.

Beautiful gardens and animals you rarely get to see while in LA but on a night like this, the place is just lit with things to explore and see and take pictures of.

The zoo, with a very large new elephant exhibit and a good selection of both local and exotic animals, is also a botanical garden featuring carefully curated plants interspersed throughout the grounds. Warning: exploring the zoo entails walking uphill, so it's not the best choice for the hottest days.

It was extremely hot when we went and most of the animals where inside I recommend you choose a cool day other than that you'll love it

Great for families, also next to Griffith Park and the Observatory. Lots of activities, horse back riding and hiking.

The LA Zoo is a great place to take the kids or any animal lover. And they host several family friendly events throughout the year that come included with your general admission ticket. It's also a great place to get a work out since it's a bit hilly. If you go you must try the almonds - they're delicious!

I liked it. It's just kind of small and there are not too too many animals to see, but there is a variety.

The Los Angeles Zoo is packed, there is way to many people. We waited for more than an hour to get tickets! Here is some advice, you should pay for your tickets online, but everything else was fun!

Who doesn't Love the Zoo?? Here is a classic wonderland of animals for children and adults to enjoy! Every time we go we have to buy the fresh almonds with cinnamon and of course the little ones have to have the popcorn. My favorite part of the zoo is the Gorilla exhibit and all the cardio you get from walking :)

This is not a place for someone who doesn't like to walk. If you're really into going, which I would not recommend, spend the extra money for the Safari ride to take you around the park.
Most of the Animal exhibits were closed, or the animals were in hiding.

The walk around the park took about 2 hours, with walking past the cages with no animals to view.

I have seen way better Zoos as I would by pass this one, to spend your day in a different part of LA.

I have good things and bad things to say about this place. The animals are amazing, of course, and the exhibits they have are great (though warning for nostalgic adults, they're mostly for the kids). And, an added bonus, they serve alcohol at the zoo at a couple of places.

The bad thing I have to say is the fact that the food is overpriced. I get it, it's a zoo and attractions generally are priced higher. But I thought it was a little too much money for a hamburger that didn't include fries. I would definitely take nieces and nephews next time, but I may need to bring a bigger wallet, first.
