Stopped in Golden Gopher on a pub crawl and really enjoyed it. Indoor and outdoor spaces, good vibe.

Nice spot downtown to get a nice cocktail. Classic neon signage on the outside. They don't have food to serve but you can order from Pellicola Pizza next door, and they'll bring it to your table at Golden Gopher, nice touch. My husband got an Old Fashioned here and got addicted to Old Fashioneds. They have a special cube that seems hand crafted that they use for every order of an Old Fashioned. A few coin op table top video games scattered throughout the bar, along with a pool table. I can see this being a cool hangout spot late at night.

This is a great place to just get drinks with your friend when you want to have a chill day. Their drinks are reasonably priced and the vibe is always very cozy. Plenty of place to sit, old arcade game, jukebox and a pool table. My friends and I usually just get drinks and chat.

The gopher is walking distance from my gfs loft and we just wanted a simple night out to chat and have a sippy sip.
Personally i found the bouncer took his job WAY to seriously...when he carded us he really looked at our id - it took 2 minutes each for him to calculate our birthdays!
I mean i get it, your trying to prove your a worthy employee but he stopped us on our way to use the restroom and wanted to card us again?
My gf kept walking because she didnt hear him and just went into the restroom, when she came back out the bouncer said he was gonna kick us out?!
I mean ..huh?!?!
it was a good thing we were on our way out regardless so it doesnt even matter ..but geeze...

Golden Gopher has a pretty solid happy hour (Mon-Fri 5-8). It gets crowded on the weekends and I almost never go during that time. Weeknights is really mellow and chill.

Street parking can easily be found during weeknights. Good luck on weekends!

A good happy hour bar in Downtown. They have happy hour from 5-8 with drink specials. Their beer on tap is 4 bucks and their well drinks are 5 for happy hour specials. Are bartender was pretty nice and the drinks are quick. I came at the beginning of happy hour so it wasn't as busy or popping. There is some street parking in front!

Yelp Check In Specials baby… too bad I almost never remember to check in when I arrive at a place like this. This time it stunk since I was done drinking and coulda saved a few $$$

This place is definitely unique to my experience as it brings a bunch of different aspects together that I usually find in random dives alone. For example they have really chitty low yellow lighting like The Griffon in Glendale, table top arcade games like Snakepit Alehouse in Fairfax, Brick façade inside and out as well as inside and outside seating like The Far Bar in J-Town, and the upscale ambience of the Broadway Bar in DTLA. So with a lot of these things thrown all in together, it was a unique and enjoyable place.

Pro Tip: They have daily specials in chalk next to the bar

The outside seating is at a premium but it is very fun if you don’t mind climbing over around and on top of your friends. I mean you’re having a few drinks anyways so whats the big deal? You may be able to move things around slightly to make it a bit more comfy as well now and then.

They have a great selection of beer and a decent selection of whiskey/bourbon/scotch here. There are between 10-15 beers on tap, and I have no idea how many bottles of the other. They do carry a full bar so if you want something different, you can get it.

One of my favorite features was that behind the bar are windows that are looking at the next buildings brick wall. I really liked the look of that TBH. I would love doing a photoshoot here too I think as you could get some crazy shots.

Some of the furniture here is simply unique and awesome, but slightly reminiscent of The Virgil in Silverlake… dayem another bar reference… ridiculous, but this place is kewl, so I suggest that you check it out sometime.

What a great place to have Downtown. The drink options have variety. You have so many choices for unique and custom drinks that you can pour down your gullet. The bartenders are friendly and cool, and get the job done for the crowd. The music will keep you going strong as well.

Parking you can choose street, or the lot on Olive and 8th or 7th and Hill.

The Golden Gopher has a somewhat large dive bar feel with better drinks and an actual crowd. It's slightly off the higher traffic areas but it can still get pretty packed. Not a whole lot of seating but plenty of open areas.

The Golden Gopher has a laid back speak-easy-ish feel that is typical of many downtown bars that popped up a few years back. It's not in the middle of a high traffic area, so it doesn't see as much of the crowds that other bars do. Good for groups... good drinks! They also have one of those old school Pac-Man tables.
