Stopped in here on a cold day. The tea service was lovely. The staff was warm and welcoming too!

Nice little place on the ground floor where there's a bar indoors and a pool outside with tables surrounding. There's even a taco stand on the corner in case your hungry. Located in the corner outside where the pool is. Local events go on and you will see it crowded. Parking is tough but you can grab some free ones in downtown if you can find loading zones (only the yellow ones) not the white commercial ones. Have a great time drinking and chillin. Bring a light jacket cuz the pool is cool and you can even swim there if you stay at the hotel. Bathroom is located downstairs and is a bit scary if it's early cuz it's creepy. When there is a dj outside, it's cool cuz it plays throughout the lobby making it less creepy.

My review is strictly for the pool area where they promote having a pool party. I have to say I was very disappointed! There was a DJ and he was actually ok given the fact there's no one there and he still tries to pretend he's doing something than actually push "play" on his macbook. But seriously if you are going to promote a pool party do a better job advertising the event. Aside from the happy hour tacos and drinks (which were average), we stayed for 5 minutes and left. The hotel itself seemed like a relic from the 50's and maybe some tourists would be drawn to the historic aspect of the hotel. For me, however, this place is not worth my time.

It is close to the Staples Center Downtown. It has a big hall in spanish style and rooms in maroquine style. It has a nice swimming pool and open air cafe. The location is good for exploring any part of the city. It is a good choice also for prices.

The Figueroa Hotel is a hip yet historic hotel in the heart of downtown close by the Staples Center and LA Live entertainment complex. It is has a Moroccan styled aesthetic and the pool area is a must to grab a drink, grub, and take a dip in their decently sized pool!

I attended one of the best pool parties this past Memorial Day weekend which was hosted by a record label and boutique brand. The music was thumping with sunny disco house tunes and the crowd was having a blast with a lot of coo and good looking people everywhere.

Beautiful hotel with a Moroccan feel to the pool area. Has a Huge history within LA area and is definitely a trip to the past. They have special deals online for special holidays

Hip hotel and a central location with beautiful pool, but it's so old. I prefer a modern hotel. Walking through the halls just creeped me out.

Built in the 1920s, the building originally housed the YWCA, then fell into disuse finally to be revitalized. The hotel offers a unique Moroccan theme and is conveniently located to a number of attractions including L.A. Live and the Staples Center.

Hmm, this is a hard hotel to review, because as far as ambience is concerned, I give it a 5. This Moroccan inspired historic building is a step into another world with its decor and authentic furnishings. Service, on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. We stopped by for a meal, to which we found out there was limited food selection and no eating in the area by the pool, which is exactly what we wanted to do. The service was not friendly nor helpful, but I would still go back just for the ambience, albeit no expectations.

I never stayed in the hotel itself. I would only go to the bar. With Moroccan-themed decor, a coffin-shaped outdoor pool, and provocative supperclub beds, Hotel Figueroa's exotic Veranda Bar used to be my go-to spot for after-dinner drinks with a large group of friends. I liked how there were no cover charges to get into the bar and pool area and that there was always plentiful seating. This chill lounge often lured a youthful, eclectic crowd.

I love the Hotel Fig. It's an old hotel in a Moroccan motif in downtown Los Angeles across from L.A Live. The pool area is a fun place to hang out, and you will feel like you're far away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. Your in a tropical garden setting. The rooms are small, but you're not in L.A to stay in your room

Strictly on their pool area bar...

Great place to get together with friends. Drinks are cheaper than the places around the area and it can accommodate bigger groups. I've been a few times with anywhere from 6 to 12 people and we never had a problem finding an area (Saturday nights).

I have not stayed here, but I have come here for drinks -- its decor is Moroccan-inspired and has a low-key elegance. Even if you don't stay here, you should grab a drink with the hip crowd by the pool. Now that LA Live is nearby, you can also just grab a pre-concert or pre-game drink here.

I have to remind myself that I'm still in LA when I visit the poolside bar at this place. It is walkable to LA Live and the hustle and bustle of LA. Drinks are cheap and strong. Ambience is fantastic. Great for a date!

On entering this exotic boutique-style hotel I felt transported to Bali, the Baja and Casablanca. The evocative décor mixes romance, old Euro-style and a bohemian look with Moroccan and Asian influences—a big Buddha, large cactus and eclectic furnishings from the lobby to the lounge—and rooms. Each door is hand-painted, and the colorful rooms are a sanctuary with an arch, a Botero reproductions, French wrought-iron bed, embroidered pillows, and Mexican tiled baths. I could go on. This former 1925 YWCA residence has a vintage vibe but it’s smack in the middle of downtown next to Staples Center and the L.A. Live complex. The funky feel and window a/c units won’t work for everyone but the artful design, kilims, silks, and amenities feel lavish and otherworldly. There’s a lobby dining room and Rick’s Place. Hang at the lush garden pool next to the bar oozing ambiance. It’s inviting, charming and affordable.

It was hot and noisy out as we entered the lobby. Here in this cool dimly lighted place we found an oasis. The decor is beautiful. There are sculptures from Indonesia, fabrics from India and Turkey the lighting Moroccan brass. The walls and doors are all hand painted with different gold, red, ochre and blue combinations. I immediately felt that I was on vacation.
I've always liked the exotic and the Figueroa does not disappoint. Every detail has a special touch. We walked down a long hallway through a tent like cabana draped with luxurious Indian fabrics to the pool area. I loved the pool and jacuzzi with it's cactus and succulent garden. Very relaxing.
We got to see 4 rooms. All of them slightly different in size and furniture. All the doors in the hotel have been hand painted by artists and each one is worth seeing. The beds are beautiful and inviting. The linens are high quality and soft to the touch. The overall effect is very romantic.
This is a place that I would recommend to anyone that would like a bohemian exotic getaway in the middle of Los Angeles.
The Figueroa is within walking distance of L.A. Live, the Convention Center, Club Nokia and the Metro. The area is safe to walk in at all hours of the day and night and there are tons of restaurant choices in all price ranges. If your in the mood for a steak visit another L.A. landmark The Pantry, it never closes in case your out for a late night.

A historic Los Angeles hotel that is almost as iconic to LA as Cityhall, The Bonaventure Hotel, and Royce Hall at UCLA. Yet, I have NEVER stepped foot inside its walls.

Until this past Sunday. A bunch of us gathered to celebrate 3 people's birthdays (+1 more in spirit) at the hotel's Veranda Bar. The overall theme and décor of the hotel is, what I'm told, Moroccan in nature and has those mellow, earthy tones. Quite artsy I might add.

The Bar where we were congregating initially seemed a little cabana-esque. Of course this is where the pool is, so what do you expect. One thing I noted and I pointed out to a couple people was the shape of the pool. It looked like a coffin. Now whether they're known for that, I have no idea, but it was faintly morbid.

We had quite a large group and the first couple of people who had shown up were worried that there was only 1 bartender, so we tried doing them a favor and "warn" the guy that he had a group of 40, (in the words of Erica F) "demanding" people coming for drinks. He kind of shrugged it off as if he knew he could handle it, but not in an over confident way, more of a he just didn't have a clue, kind of way.

We were able to snag a few tables in the way back. As more and more people trickled in, the setting became quite intimate. If you looked up you could see part of the LA skyline, and being right across from LA Live, you could see the spot lights swaying back and forth. The music was just loud enough to hear, but not too loud so you couldn't hear the person next to you.

There is a café inside that you could order food from and they will be more than happy to bring it out to you outside. I ordered the burger with fries. It wasn't bad for $8. Maybe because I was just really hungry.

The drinks had a pretty good pour and were moderately priced. The bartender was very nice and accommodating and as far as I could tell, he wasn't as overwhelmed as we thought he would be.

This would be a nice spot for post dinner drinks with a date, or just to hang out with friends. Always good times.
