10/2011 under new management). Great decor, great property that's mostly outdoors, amazing rooms with great patios and views (see pics), spa, great pool, food, wines, and service outside this world. Could not recommend enough, or overstate just how spectacular. Don't go by their website (they're completely overhauling.) This is a Beverly Hills/LA gem of a hotel bar none.

This is a hidden gem if there ever was one! It's like you're transported to another world when you walk in, with a real Swan Lake and what seems like a forest around you. The epitome of luxury in LA! Also, lots of fun stuff to do for kids.

Ready to spend? This is just lovely, secluded, high class yet casual LA at its best. Breakfast, afternoon coffee, lunch, dinner, everything is great. Bring your wallet.

This is the perfect place for Angelenos to escape. Located in Bel-Air secluded in what appears to be a canyon is this perfect oasis. The rooms or cottages are laid out so that you never feel like you are in a hotel. The service is precise without being stuffy and the atmosphere is sublime! I would highly recommend High Tea, which is offered every Friday and Saturday.

Lovely hotel but owned by the Sultan of Brunei who is supporting legislation legalizing the stoning of gays and lesbians. Boycott Dorchester Hotels.

Super posh. Pet friendly. Comfortable rooms. Prompt service. Only thing I dislike is the tv system really really sucks. Expect to pay a lot for your food lol

I have such fond memories of the Hotel Bel-Air as it's one of my mom's favorite places is Los Angeles. If ever comfort, luxury and homeyness could merge it does so effortlessly in the Hotel Bel-Air. The hotel grounds feel enchanted, with so much greenery and a magical little pond. The rooms are white and airy and oh so relaxing, but also have great interior design that pleasantly remind you you're in a five star hotel.

From the moment I walked up the covered path with the ancient overhanging California Sycamore, I knew this place was special. It is exactly what I love for a weekend (re)treat of luxury. It’s no wonder that Grace Kelly used to stay here: walking past the sweeping stairways, archways, and rounded walls stylishly built in 1946, I felt transported into old-time Hollywood. It’s not cheap, but it’s so peaceful and secluded, that it’s the perfect splurge for a romantic staycation. The lush gardens seem to go on for miles, and come complete with a pond and resident swans. This place is the perfect blend of classy and comfortable – I simply felt good being there. The lobby and rooms are spacious, with plenty of natural light. (Appreciate the lobby as a cozy reading spot, since you won’t need it for check in purposes. They do that in the privacy of your classically stylish room!)

The Hotel Bel-Air was closed for two years to renovate the storied property, and its loss was felt deeply by many locals and longtime regular visitors. The rose-colored exterior hallways remain, but the guest rooms have been re-imagined in a much more contemporary design scheme—one that also pays homage to the Hollywood Regency look. As expected with such a dramatic remodel to a beloved property with whom many guests feel a certain attachment, the reviews have been mixed.

Personally, I think they did a fantastic job. The service has always been uniformly excellent here, but Bel-Air was starting to show its age. For such a luxury resort, it didn’t even have a spa before. The open-air Wolfgang Puck restaurant has also brought serious cooking back here. But my favorite place on property is still Swan Lake, where, if you’re lucky, you will catch a glimpse of Athena, Chloe and/or Hercules.
