Location is the only reason why I picked this place....but the quality of my room from bedsheets ,flooring, bath tubs and design ill rate it to 1 1/2 star. I expect luxury hotel for the price I paid...but I failed. Will I come back on this location....nope.

Great place to hold weddings, conference and so forth. Large banquet halls and rooms. Food isn't bad when catered. Good kitchen.

I really liked this hotel. For a big chain it has a lot of character and I really liked the Japanese theme throughout. The Kyoto Gardens are small but really beautiful, a great place to curl up with a good book and enjoy the great L.A. weather. The rooms are spacious and it's centrally located in downtown not too far from the Staples Center, and all the restaurants and nightlife. There isn't a pool but I think the gardens more than make up for it. The hotel is a nice reprieve from the madness that can be downtown sometimes.

This will be one of the less expensive hotels in Downtown Los Angeles, although there is no pool/spa, there's a lush mid-rise rooftop garden and water feature - something that's quite unique in downtown. A matter of fact, come check out their garden and have a "romantic drink" during the warmer days when they set up a bar there.

It used to be the New Kyoto hotel and before that it was the New Otani Hotel. It's been about 75% renovated and the rooms are modern and comfortable.

The warm chunky cookies they give you at check-in is a nice touch!

Hotel parking is expensive as usual. There are cheaper parking lots adjacent but there is currently construction going on as well.

Overall, great for the discounted price I paid. $125 plus tax.

Wow! Stepping into the DoubleTree after being in the busy streets of downtown LA is such a breath of fresh air. The staff couldn't be friendlier and the rooms are clean, bright and luxurious! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a top-notch stay in the downtown area. You really can't go wrong with any DoubleTree hotel, but this one is especially nice.

Located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles this location is conveniently located near several conventions sites as well as Little Tokyo. You'll find several awesome dining options within walking distance.

It's a nice hotel with a free cookie when you check in. And they have a nice relaxing outdoor garden!

The hotel rooms are a little bit older, but opt for a deluxe room rather than a standard to get a recently renovated room, which is much better. The rooftop garden is a great place to relax and have some drinks while enjoying the the view of downtown. The rooftop garden is closed though if there are weddings going on.

The rooms are slightly small but the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. The hotel is very easy to find with large signs that show you where and how to enter the hotel. The hotel has valet and self-parking options but the valet parking is very expensive. The valet parking staff members were helpful and able to direct us where to go.
The lobby is all decorated in red and black and is very impressive. There was a piano and plenty of lobby seating for guests and socializing while enjoying cocktails. There is a bar in the lobby and signs showing you where everything is located. The lobby has a couple art galleries that are accessible by room key. We were also told that we could get the full restaurant menu at the bar as well as the restaurant.
The registration staff members were friendly and accommodating and helpful in locating facilities and telling us about the hotel and the amenities.
The gym was small but had all of the features you would need if you wanted to work out.
There was no pool but we were told that the deluxe suites had Jacuzzi tubs in them. We were also told about an upcoming remodel and told about the changes that would be taking place.
The rooms were clean and had everything you would need, including a mini bar and huge tv. There wasn’t much space in the rooms, just enough for the bed, dresser, desk and mini bar. The bathroom was also small. The door to the bathroom opened in which further limited the space available in the bathroom. The bathtub and the shower were incorporated in one. The closet was standard size and right at the entrance of the room.
Overall, the hotel was very nice and somewhere I would enjoy staying on any trip to LA.

I was pretty surprised that this hotel got terrible reviews considering prior to looking at the reviews I had stayed here almost two years ago and had a great time at this hotel. The staff was friendly and despite my hiccup at this hotel this time around I still think it's a great place to stay.

First the location of this place is unbeatable. You can come here, stay here, and walk to Japantown and if that's all you did the entire weekend you would be completely entertained by all the stores, bakeries, groceries, random trinklets and sushi restaurants (as well as others) that Japantown has to offer. It's literally one block away! Parking here can be a little hefty ($30.00/24 hours) self parking but I got in on a pretty sweet deal for $9.00 per 24 hours which was far better than most places in the area.

The lobby is very nice, well decorated and pretty elegant. They have quite a few restaurants and bars although surprisingly most of them close early except for the Genji Bar which closes at 12:00 AM. The rooftop garden is pretty sweet and you can get some fantastic views of downtown LA from the garden. The rooms are nice, clean, beds are comfortable and the multitudes of pillows are ALWAYS appreciated. I especially love their dark decor which makes the room seem modern. The only complaint was that when we first checked in, they sent us to a room that hadn't been cleaned at all.

However, the huge 42 (46?) plasma made up for that. Great!

Kyoto Grand offers an average stay for guests visiting and/or doing business in downtown Los Angeles. The Asia influence ascertains the elegance of the hotel, though the setting is rather dated and rigid (as of 2009). The standard room with double twin beds was small and needed upgrade. Internet must be purchased and valet around $20. The website photos are overstating the condition of the hotel.
