I've never actually stayed here, but I can speak for the rooftop bar...it's pretty amazing. Great vibe, awesome view, plenty of seating, and a hot tub
Increasingly trendy feel as soon as you walk in. Great lobby, cafe/restaurant, and awesome rooftop bar. We stayed in one of the suites with great decor.
I love Ace Hotels. They're trendy and cool. Check out the rooftop. Always a good time.
An oasis in downtown that transports you the minute you check in. The rooftop bar is a must to visit!!!
Great hotel. Is starting to get over done. The roof top bar is a great place for a drink
Great place to get away listen to your favorite DJS or hang out on a Sunday afternoon. .. try the Majito they are great
It is okay but a tad bit too small. I prefer The Standard by far but the intimacy here is nice depending on the mood you are in.
Was it manifest destiny, wry commentary or genius marketing that Banksy’s “PARK” mural sits across from the Ace Hotel? The historic United Artists building reopened in 2014 with much blog-fare after undergoing a daytime talk show worthy-makeover. The hip hotel chain has kept the retro-glamorous aesthetic of the building’s storied past, while drawing modern mavericks of the art, music and film scene with movie premieres, eclectic concerts and edgy art exhibitions. I was lucky enough to celebrate a birthday at the rooftop bar when Grammy-nominee James Blake happened to be guest DJing for the night (humblebrag).
I wasn't super impressed with the rooms here, considering the Ace's reputation precedes it. The layout is strange in that the foot of the bed is right up against the wall, cutting off the room at a weird angle and not giving much space to walk and the decor felt like an army barracks, the pendleton blanket, the chipped paint on the desk. I know it's en vogue now but it just didn't feel cozy or relaxing given all the hype. The vibe is really cool though and the rooftop bar has an amazing view of downtown. The location and architecture of the space itself is great I'm just not sure I loved the room all that much.
Beautiful historic architecture that felt like Gaudi. Amazing programs. I Saw a screening of Paul Thomas Anderson's Junun. Great area.
Employees are sitting around chatting. No one has a uniform and they don't greet you. My reservation was lost and it was greeted with a eh. No impressed.
Small but beautiful space. Can be hard to find a well-shaded spot but when you do, you'll want to stay forever.
Drinks are well-made and they have a concession stand for all your late-night munchie needs. They make this weird strawberry-vanilla ice cream sundae topped with toasted coconut and curry powder...while you won't know if your taste buds like it or not, you'll be down to the last spoonful before you realize it.
Oh and the pool turns into a Jacuzzi at night whatttt
The Ace is a hipster haven among the grind of downtown LA! This hotel has got it all - it's classy and cool and they have an amazing restaurant and bar. The hotel is very historical! It's the old United Artists building that D. W. Griffith, Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks founded in 1919. The rooms are modern and clean and have everything that you need for comfortable and chic night's rest. It's like sleeping in a Urban Outfitters catalog!
Great cocktails with a wonderful indoor and outdoor atmosphere that gives you a top view of the city. When I went, I had no problem accessing the roof top and it wasn't too crowded which was nice.
Trendy spot with a great view . Love the food and the cocktails . Most see for Los Angeles visitors .
Fantastic location with easy access to the coolest places to eat and see. Very trendy upstairs pool bar with express access if you stay at the ace. Yummy in room juice service in addition to normal menu items.
I went on a friday night and the DJ from Funky Sole was spinning. Not Miles. but the one that wears the suits all the time. He tore it down. I could not stay still! However the crowd was totally not responding to it at all. Vibe was eh, DJ was on point.
Beautiful place to see a screening or show or if you're interested in architecture or Los Angeles history.
It's visually nice, rooftop bar is fun and casual, the products they have in the room are nice (soaps, etc.) The rooms had a REALLY bad smell, like throw up. We left our first room and then the second one smelled the same.
I'm an Ace man, through and through. Whether I'm in New York, Portland, Palm Springs or LA, I'll be checking into the Ace. And if not for a stay at the hotel, then at least for some Stumptown coffee and some laptop time in one of the chain's epic semi-public workspaces. The LA Ace is no exception to the rule. Widely credited with anchoring a resurgence in the city's long-ignored downtown neighborhood, the Ace is full of mover, shakers and local flavor.
