Trafalgar Square is a public square in Westminster surrounded by galleries, museums and historical buildings. Statues, fountains and a cafe are on the square, most notably Nelson's Column.

Famous from the pigeons to the National Gallery! And the current “art” work on the 4th plinth and not far from Leicester Square with cinemas and clubs. The crypt of St Martins in the Fields has a good lunchtime restaurant.

A very touristy spot in London buzzing with performances and artists ready to entertain you. There's also a fountain in the middle, which makes for a nice spot to just watch the millions of pigeons around :)

Another historic site. At least in the movies, the Queen hung out here as a child.

Iconic square in the heart of London providing residence to the National Galleries and Nelson's Column. Often there are events, street-artists or demonstrations on the go so worth a visit to get a taste of local life and culture. The lions surrounding the column are a sight to behold and are a good photo opportunity for many people who climb up on their backs. Combine it with a walk down Whitehall past the government offices and 10 Downing Street itself.

Marking the English victory in the battle of Trafalgar, the square is a great event venue hosted by the Mayor of London or some really arty events by National Portrait Gallery. The column of Nelson has the Duke perched atop proud of his battle strategy.

A beautiful large square leading up to The National Gallery - Trafalgar Square is one of those great, iconic places that make you feel like you're really in London. The gigantic statue of Lord Nelson always amazes me with its grandeur, looking out over London quite majestically. The great lion statues are just as majestic, and there is a new statue of a horse skeleton from Anatomy of a Horse that features a ribbon with the live London stock exchange now. The fountains light up with LED at night, and the square is a meeting point for city events like protests and memorials. Definitely come see it.
