variety, a collection of some of the biggest and most famous diamonds in the world. On the banks of the River Thames, the royal Yeoman Warders, more commonly known as Beefeaters, still guard the historic castle. The royal armory has five centuries worth of armor and weapons on display. The Tower Green looks like a peaceful courtyard, but it's where three queens of England, including Anne Boleyn, literally lost their heads. The complex was designated a World Heritage Site in 1988.

If you are interested in seeing the Crown Jewels, you should visit, if not, you might not want to spend your money and opt to visit one of London’s many free museums.

This is definitely a must do attraction in London. There's so much history and culture within this. Any type of traveler can enjoy this. And it doesn't take up too much time to see so you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the rest of what the city has to offer.

Local from London

I’m a local and I loved visiting this place. The stories are interesting, the architecture (a mishmash of a dozen different styles from different eras) is interesting and the exhibitions are sometimes interesting. There’s a legend that if the ravens who live at the Tower leave, the monarchy will fall, taking the country with it. So they’ve clipped their wings so they can’t fly, which feels like taunting fate and will surely end badly.

If you visit one monument/museum it must be The Tower. The Beefeaters give great tours and teach you about the history of the place. It’s impressive to say the least.

The Tower of London has a history of a royal palace, an armoury and a powerful fortress but it is probably best remembered for being a notorious prison, a place of torture and death.

Today, visitors can join a Beefeater on tour and discover the priceless Crown Jewels as well as hear numerous tales and learn the legend of the Tower's ravens. In addition to leading tours, it is the Beefeaters' duty to ensure the jewels remain safe.

Everything at the Tower of London is extremely interesting. The architecture alone is enough to entertain kids, but the exhibits within are well worth the ticket. Make sure you have enough time to look around at everything - they close pretty early. Great view of the bridge from inside the tower!

Tower of London:
From the very earliest beginnings of London, there was a fort, then a castle, then the stronghold you see today. Stretching from Roman Britain to the present day. A 2,000 year history. Incredible.

Can never get enough of this wonderfully historic palace in the heart of the City, I've gone to London yearly since I was 12 and this is still one of my favourite places to visit whilst there, many exhibitions, plaques and performances in the walls of this wonderfully maintained tower.

This is one of London's iconic places and not to be missed. It is of great historical significance. It is referenced in so many books that one has read, that if you visit London, you must visit the Tower, if for no other reason than to view the Crown Jewels. The Beefeaters offer tours of the Tower, which is large and there is much to see, so take advantage of these free tours. There is a charge for your is it, but you can stay as long as you like. So go early and spend the day.

One of the "must visit" attractions of London, but it is really worth your time. Take a guided tour by one of the beefeaters and make sure you have enough time for a thorough visit of the premises.

Nothing represents England's past more than the Tower of London. Get yourself a guided tour with one of the beefeaters - such amazing characters. Of course, you have to make viewing the crown jewels a priority. Can get very busy especially on a summer weekend.

Great attraction in London and something that children and adults alike can enjoy. The tour is a little expensive for a large family but well worth it with some interesting exhibits and informative displays. Location on the river next to Tower Bridge makes it a nice place to walk to and enjoy the outdoors too.

No trip to London is complete without a visit to the Tower of London. Great tour with a lot of interesting history tips. Take a look at the famous ravens that congregate up front.
