Description
The Notting Hill publicized by the Hugh Grant film of the same name wasn’t always so charming. During the first part of the 20th century, particularly during the post-war period, the area had the ... Read more
characteristics of a slum. Overpopulated buildings, poverty and race riots struck the neighborhood, issues that would plague Notting Hill until redevelopment commenced in the 1960s. Gentrification attracted affluence, and upscale shops and restaurants began to fill the streets. The renowned Portobello Road features a prominent market, and a hip nightlife can be found amid its numerous boutiques.

Unfortunately I did not see Hugh Grant, but nonetheless Notting Hill is such a cute and quaint town. It's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of London to see what every other English town looks and feels like. This is a great city for any travelers. There were a ton of families and couples throughout and gave you that cozy, homey feeling throughout the town. The markets have the most unique art that you can't find anywhere. Notting Hill is definitely worth the day trip.

Great place to visit on the weekends. The market offers a wide variety of things. It’s very picturesque and sharply different from Westminster.

What an adorable neighborhood! I had to visit this neighborhood because of the movie. Who knew that George Orwell once lived in this cute area? The portobello road market is not to be missed!

This is a hip and fun neighbourhood, but it is expensive and maybe not as hip and fun as it thinks it is. But the proximity to Hyde Park is enviable and there are some great restaurants.

NH is a lovely area of London. it is were Hugh Grant and Jiulia Roberts falled in love in the omonymous film but, moreover, is a very alive ensemble of curious shops, nice restaurants and pretty houses.

This once-eclectic neighborhood has been fully gentrified and is now home to a large number of expats, prominently investment bankers. Beautiful private gardens and Georgian-period mansions shapes the area. The Famous Portobello Road Antique Market runs through the neighborhood.

Yes... as in Hugh Grant. 10 minutes on the tube from my London House to rent and you are there!

Explore expensive shops in Westbourne Grove, and check out Daylesford and 202. Portobello Road is groovy place to go if you like outdoor markets and are able to determine the difference between junk and treasure, because there is a great deal of junk. It is very busy and over run with tourist, so try to go on Friday rather than Saturday. The end of Portobello is more interesting and keep going to get to a more interesting part of town, Golborne Road, with lots of antique shops, Moroccan cafes, and up and coming clothing, shoe, and bag designers.

One of Londons many fascinating neighborhood with a ton of cute colorful buildings, small shops and of course, the famous Portobello Road. Lovely for an afternoon stroll and if you time it well, a visit at the Portobello Road Market for a browse among the many antique stalls.

Because Nottinghill was listed in the top 100 things to do, see, etc in London, I came to check it out! I was very fascinated by the amount of people and diverse culture here! It's a very lovely place to stroll around! I mainly went down the main street where all the food vendors are. There are so many types of food and various shops! VERY FUN, EXCITING, and LIVELY! The vibrant colors of the shops and houses were very eye catching! I even had a mini photoshoot on the street along the beautifully colored houses with my travel buddy!

It's impossible to be hungry on this street! I tried out some crepes, waffles, and falafels! You can literally find all kinds of cuisines with different tastes, salty, spicy, sweet, and sour!

The street was so long. I felt like it will never end, so I didnt go from end to end. The vendors close around 6, and they take down the entire store/tent! Afterwards, a garage truck and street cleaning cart go down the street to make the streets sparkling clean again!!

I lived closeby and on weekends would just take long walks around to explore little cafés and shops. It has a quieter vibe than some other parts of London, and in my opinion not to be missed :)

The Hippie forced The Yuppie to act out scenes from the movie. It was pretty frightening. But seriously, this is a charming and colorful neighborhood, not to be overlooked.
