Description
Known as both the London Eye and the Millennium Wheel, this huge 450-foot ferris wheel on the South Bank gives a fabulous bird's eye view of London, if your stomach is strong enough. Its inception in ... Read more
the beginning of 2000 honoured the Millenium; and the spectacular views stretch for 25 miles on a clear day to include views of Windsor and Tunbridge Wells. Up to 25 people can fit in each of the wheel's "capsules." The wheel turns surprisingly slowly-it takes thirty minutes to go round, so there's plenty of time to spot landmarks and take photos. There's a menace looming high above the River Thames, across from Big Ben and the House of Parliament. I kid, I kid. It's just the London Eye, a giant ferris wheel that offers the best views in London. The lines may be long, but the entire ride around the wheel takes about 30 minutes, so you'll get plenty of time to enjoy the view when you finally make it to the front.

When I last visited London, last November, the thing I was most looking forward was the London Eye. It did not disappoint. From up there you could the skyline of the city, Westminster Palace right next to it, the Mall, Trafalgar Square, one of the best views of the city!

The perfect place for a panoramic view of London. Sometimes there are queues, but it moves quite fast.

I went a year ago and it was truly beautiful. It is such a great place to take the family to vacation to. The biggest concern is the amount of people and how complicated it can be to get a picture.

The eye is one of those once in a lifetime things to do. Yes, it's extremely touristy. But the views are incredible and it's worth the ticket price. You can see the entire city from the top and it's breath taking.

Really too long line and too expensive but a good view of the city. I would go to the top floor or the art museum instead. Free.

The London Eye is a little bit over-done. It is expensive and it is very cool, but I could have gone without it if I were to do London again. However, it had a beautiful view and I got some great pictures!

It was a fantastic ride. You can see the whole London, it's really extraordinary.
I loved it.
It is kind of scary at the beginning but I think it's worth it to see all those amazing views. It's absolutely breathtaking.
Would like it to go again sometime near in the future.

We were in London for our daughter's wedding two years ago and one of the attractions was the London Eye. Having seen brochures and pictures of the Eye, I made it one our places to visit. Arriving at the attraction, I could not believe how large it is. We purchased our tickets and went to the ramp to enter the "car" which kept moving. We boarded the car and started our upward ride. I was taking pictures from the minute we got on and started our upward trip. This has to be the largest wheel that I have ever been on. I probably took about 75 photos of our ride. When we got home in the U.S. I reviewed all the photos of our trip to Great Britain that contained a count 4800 photos and printed around 20 photos and showed them to our friends. They asked how high the Eye is and I did not even ask when we were there. All I can say is that was worth the time. I see other pictures and they do not compare in my opinion, to the London Eye. Thank you for the experience, it was well worth the time. Also, the big difference between the London Eye is you can walk around in the "Capsul" instead of sitting in all the others. Thank you for the experience. We will be coming back.

Nice way to see London from high up but make sure you pick your days wisely. Nothing worse than waiting on a mega queue only to see ziltch whilst you're up there.

Managed to do this with airmiles so didn't cost a thing. Avoided the queue for tickets as had them in hand. The view is great but I was shocked at how slow the wheel turns and the security checks for bombs. I guess that's what we have to put up with in London these days :(

I would go again with someone if they hadn't been. One off my bucket list!

It's easy to get to, but I would definitely by a ticket in advance to avoid some queuing.

Riding the London Eye was one of the most amazing experiences. It really gives you a great view of the city when you don't have time to explore it thoroughly. It also gives you tons of information on all of the different buildings and historic spots.

The London eye is truly the BEST view of the city. The pictures you will take here are incredible.

Last time I checked it was about £24 to ride and the ride takes about 30 mins. It moves so slow that you can't even tell really. Totally worth the money! I usually don't like to encourage people to fall for tourist traps but this one is touristy but isn't a trap. You won't get these views anywhere else-- although I've heard that The Shard has insane views too.

Go to the London Eye, you won't regret it! It's family friendly but also can be very romantic, especially at night. Lines can get crowded but I visited with a school group and got to skip, hehe.

You won't be disappointed. Be sure to walk about the neighborhood too there's lots of shops and food around these parts.

I love you London, forever and ever.

An interesting way to see London from a big Ferris wheel!! You can do it a few different ways but with champagne it's fun!

Honestly, I'd been by the London Eye numerous times before and hadn't been inclined to go up. Then some friends planned a champagne ride approaching sunset, and what a view! Why hadn't I done it before? No idea, but I'd do it again.

This Ferris wheel provides quite the view of Westminster and Big Ben. The wheel itself is a pretty amazing thing to see. I didn't go on it since I have been on the Linq in Vegas and preferred walking around the Westminster area.
