An oldie but a goodie. Ottolenghi's salads, cakes and brunch are still excellent quality albeit less novel. The queue for brunch still starts at 10:15, but it's definitely worth getting up 15 min early to bask in the smugness of beating the queue. If you need to convince someone vegetarian food can be delicious, this is the obvious first choice.

Middle eastern, European, New English ... what ever the label. Ottonlenghi and his people make the best salads in London

The food is amazing and Islington is a very nice place to visit. It also has one of the best theatres in London called the Almeida very nearby.

We had a brunch on Sunday at the common table. Excellent quality of the food, good service and a lot of wonderful cakes!

one of my favourites for brunch and take out in london. i prefer this location over the one in notting hill. not only is the islington location bigger, but i simply rarely venture over that far west. for breakfast the shakshuka and french toast are my go-tos. the baked goods and salads are all delicious. can't go wrong

unbelievable flavors going on at this place. it's very casual with only one community table, so we gathered to-go boxes with a variety of cold salads and small bites and enjoyed a picnic lunch in a nearby courtyard. blown away by how delicious everything was, we made it a point to have lunch at sister restaurant Nopi the next day (which did not disappoint).

Flagship restaurant of chef Yotam Ottolenghi. Reasonably priced considering this. Booking is only usually required for dinner. Excellent food.

The food is very interesting but the communal tables may not suit everyone and the waiters tend to be pretentious. Amazing take-away food and sweets though

The cakes, ah, the cakes. They are a perfect synergy of taste and beauty. If you must, get a salad, which are also inventive and delicious.

After having dined here on a recent trip to London my wife and two children, I am giving this restaurant the highest rating possible. I loved everything about it: local and innovative ingredients; flavorful and healthy small dishes; fun new tastes that even through a Mediterranean lens come out fresh and novel. The atmosphere and service were great too. Interesting wine list too.

Ottolenghi is great for vegetarians - the choice of non-meat dishes is substantial and delicious - but there's something for everyone here. The way food is presented is almost as good it tastes.

Innovative and incredibly satisfying Mediterranean food. Vegetarians will find much to eat here. Yotam ottolenghis food not only tastes great but always looks great too. Casual setting with communal seating. Good place for lunch. They also have take away - helpful for last minute dinner guests.

You can't not get dessert here - especially after you've been temped by the cakes and pastries at the counter upon arrival. Food was solid - super fresh and flavourful. Just save room for dessert.

The food here looks so good and pretty, especially the cakes and desserts in the window displace. I just wanted to order one of each and get at it for a whole afternoon with some tea. They also have cold salad and such for self-serve, which will also be a dangerous proposition for me. However, luckily and unfortunately, this place is always quite packed, so I am yet to try to food. My friends who have been there rave about it, so I'd say it is definitely worth trying.

It's all about seasonal ingredients and Yotam's the man right now, I think! Plus his new cookbook is gorgeous. The Islington one is the biggest and is a proper restaurant.

I was so impressed with the creativity of flavors in each dish and how well they worked together. Truly unique, fresh, and delicious food. The baked goods in the window are so beautifully displayed and taste amazing. If you want to be dazzled, go to Ottolenghi.

I would kill to eat here! Chef Ottolenghi's cookbook PLENTY was on a lot of 2011's best of lists and I have no doubt his restaurants have been similarly lauded.

If you like fresh good Mediterranean cuisine don't miss this place. They make all their food from scratch and it shows. Get here hungry. you won't regret it.

I adore Ottolenghi. The chef, Yotam Ottolenghi, is a London institution, with a couple cookbooks outlining his inventive dishes. The salads and savory dishes are great, while the sweets are a whole realm of naughty delight in and of themselves. Definitely try the passion fruit tart. And they say the food is bad in England.
